Eek. I would recommend finding an alternative. The vegetables were far from fresh in any of the dishes ordered, which didn’t taste right even after picking them out. The disinterested service didn’t bode well either. The location is nice and it looked like they offered a healthy bar selection, but that is about the only positive our group took from this place.
Very unimpressed. My boyfriend and I arrived at around 8 to a half empty restaurant which should have been a sign since practically every restaurant we passed on the way was packed. Sat down and was immediately brought water by, who I assume was, the manager. That was literally the only service we received. We sat for 20 minutes while one server walked around tending to 3 other tables. She even walked by twice making eye contact with me and just ignored us. Such awful service that it made us get up and leave. We left and walked right by the manager who just watched us and didn’t say anything. Guess I can’t expect much from the server when that’s her example.
Great Thai food, great service.. Nice, family owned restaurant with properly spicy food. The dishes were well prepared and accompanied by a great selection of drinks. I travelled to Portland for the weekend, and Saithong was a few minute walk from the Marriott hotel. I was greeted at the door by the owner, Byron, who then invited me to the bar and proceeded to buy my first drink. His daughter, Lah – a waitress at the restaurant, recommended a noodle dish (which was delicious) and helped me through the beer selection. Throughout the night, Byron and I bought each other drinks (from beer to scotch to gin…and so on) and shared some ideas on a favorite. Byron shared a policy that I hope will be honoured for all customers: If a brand of liquor is asked for and is not on the shelf, it will be on the shelf for the next time the customer returns. I would come here again. The food was good, the drinks were plenty and the service was incredible.
The food was really good! However the staffing sucked! One bartender and two waiters on a busy Friday/Holiday. They didn’t even want to seat people they were so overwhelmed ! But the food was great! Kudos to the 3 people who didn’t throw in their aprons and quit!
