After we picked up my chicken and rice at Nong’s Khao Man Gai, we heading down the street and to the left to find the Frying Scotsman, a fish and chips cart. The cart is owned by a Scotsman, and while friendly, he wasn’t very chatty. He helped us decide on some items and we narrowed our order to: Halibut n chips, large order, Haddock n chips, regular order, Bangers (sausage) and chips, regular order and 3 diet cokesThe order came to $30 and change, and they were served piping hot. The next task was to find a place to eat. The Scotsman suggested going to the Courthouse Square, located 2 blocks to the left. It was a great place to enjoy our food cart lunch and people watch. The fish was excellent, but the chips needed something. I guess that’s why he offers condiments like ketchup, HP sauce, and vinegar… but unfortunately you have to splash them in your box. I wish he had like to go little cups to put your sauces in. callmemochelle.com

Pretty good but not awesome. It was fun to go for the novelty of it. But I am not sure I would go there over some of the other food vendors.

Had the cod and chips. Batter is light and crispy. Fish was moist. Steak fries were alright. Everything was greasy but it’s fried so what do you expect.

Oh my this is good. I’ve had fish and chips in the UK. This is as good as it gets. Wonderful batter, crisp, light, just the right amount of grease. Chips were good. If you want to visit a chippy this is the spot.

This is my favorite food truck ever! Loved the haddock recommendation. The only thing lacking the true UK experience was the newspaper!!! Thank you!

Very Disappointed.. I got the 4oz cod and fries. The batter was way to thick for my taste. Before you got to the fish you had more of the batter taste in your mouth. And the fries tasted a little burnt. I’m sorry i will not return.

As a Scot and a seafood lover, I rally wanted to like this tiny cart at 9TH and Alder Downtown, but for our $8, we got 1 piece of Haddock and a handful of fries, a tiny bit of slaw and an equal amount of tarter sauce. While the fries, slaw and tarter were good, the Haddock was tasteless and immensely greasy. Not a good meal or a good value. We will not be going back.
