Let down at The Roxy. I am torn on this review for The Roxy. I guess disappointed would be a better description. The place has everything an adventurous urban establishment should have. It has a quirky atmosphere all the way from signatures and autographs of movie directors to adult films stars on framed posters. They have a showcase of dolls, mainly Barbie dolls but a few rarer ones like Gone With The Wind dolls. They have statues of David at the front counter and a giant crucified Jesus with a yellow neon halo around his head. The staff are very friendly and attentive and match the quirky atmosphere. The clientele is equally eccentric and makes a delightful outing for those who like to people watch. The business has generous hours too. They are open all of the time, almost 24/7 but they take Mondays off and are closed. The main stumbling block that I had with The Roxy is that I just did not care for the food. The menu was fun to look at and had a great attitude to it. For example they named one of their sandwiches after Portland director, Gus Van Sant.I ordered the restaurant’s version of the French Dip along with Onion Rings. The Onion Rings seemed overcooked and not especially fresh. The sandwich itself kind of had the same problem, just kind of uninspired. I thought maybe I just got a sandwich that was not their banner menu item but my friend got a different kind of sandwich and did not care for it either. He actually did not finish it. I was not that picky but unfortunately the edgy atmosphere did not correspond with edgy food.So based on the food I would give The Roxy three stars but with the fun atmosphere and fun people the place slides in right at four stars.
A best of Portland experience. Food is always greasy and plentiful and extremely tasty. It’ll kill you but you’ll be happy when you die. Staff is always funny – seemingly disinterested and aloof yet you always get good service. They take care of you but bitch about it. The prices are great. The atmosphere is awesome and usually so are all the other patrons. I love this place, open your mind and enjoy a slice of Portland.
I love the Roxy the people are always so friendly, the foods great and the jesus jukebox has the best music. the first time i went in they were playing my FAVORITE cramps song. I’ve only gotten the breakfast food but its never disappointed me. Everything about the Roxy is great.
The food was hot, fresh, and delishous! Early morning breakfast, Mike the server was great! Excellent service, great food.
As always AMAZING!. Seriously always the best. As a starving artist the cheese fries cant be beat. At 230am drunk food run the breakfast is always awesome. The people are so good to me! Love this place! I have tried just about everything on its menu, and the Roxy never dissapoints! Thank you!
It’s like home but I don’t have to get stuff and the people there are friendly.
Get in my belly!!! Love this place, good prices, great food! The menu is fun to read and service is friendy. I recommend the onion rings over the french fries though!
