An inauspicious restaurant that serves the most creative bento dishes. There are long communal tables or counters against the wall for onsite dining. The bento options change all of the time. Today there was fresh coho salmon, ling cod, chicken, Hawaiian, New Zealand lamb, Scallops, prawns and more. The seafood and or meat is served with white or really tasty brown rice. The vegetables are either steamed or roasted. I love the sweet chili and horseradish condiments.
Marvel at the choreography that is Tom’s Bento. How the lunchtime crew keeps up a frenetic pace dealing with the incoming flood of eaters and to-go’ers and phone order retrievers. Amazing to watch. And the food is pretty darn good, too!
Great Salmon Bento. Quick lunch to go. Had the salmon bento with brown rice and veggies. The salmon was perfectly cooked and was a large portion. The veggies were great as well. Quick and friendly service.
Fast service and fresh food. Prices range from $5 for a veggie bento to into the teens for the fish bentos. They have several different and rotating / seasonal seafood options. The eating space is cramped and crowded during the lunch rush, but that follows the function of the place: get food to their many customers.
Great Lunch Spot!. If you have never tried a bento, you have to give it a shot!
1st Ave Bento rocks. It’s always busy and the line is huge but they move you through amazingly quickly. I’ve never been able not to order the salmon with veggies and brown rice, because it’s so good I can’t bear not to order it. I love the tartar sauce and I normally hate tartar sauce. I have gone with others who’ve tried all parts of the menu and everyone says it’s the best bento in town.
