A favorite – especially for this part of Portland. You might miss it if you aren’t looking for it tucked away unassumingly, but Tugboat earns the brewery badge for all around badass-ery. It is rumored that the Chernobyl Stout is the beer with the highest ABV on tap in town coming in at 13%. For you hopheads, their Ankeny IPA is a real treat. They always have a few of their own brews coupled with a few guest taps and wine available. Linsel, the most amazing bartender around, will help answer any questions or provide suggestions to your liking. The food is surprisingly tasty with pub selections and a few specialty dishes. What really puts this place into the badass-ery category is the atmosphere – it looks and feels like a study full of books, board games, and dimly lit tables. In true Portland brewery fashion, you can browse the book and board game collection or bring your own and enjoy the people watching all night. Tip: If you want everyone in the brewery to cheer for you when you walk in, step in to Tugboat on a Monday.

Waited for a long time, a good 15 minutes or so and my being there was not as much as acknowledged. It was not busy, there were very few other patrons.. Sure would have been nice try something but clearly serving beer or food to patrons is a pretty low priority at the Tugboat. Walked out without having ordered anything and doubt anyone there noticed.
The bartender cracks me up! The beer’s not bad either. Great atmosphear. Came on a Monday night so it wasn’t too busy.
