Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had the dinner special that had an appy, primi and an entree for only $39! The appy was octopus with pesto. It was so good that we had to ask for more bread to soak up all the delicious goodness. This is followed by the best pasta I’ve ever had. Simple yet tasty. The meat component was the braised pork shoulder. That was it! The best Italian food I had. Just as the chef envisioned. It is all about the food. It is NOT fine dining. Very casual. I would go back again to try all the items in the menu. I am very surprised that the place has no line up.
My first experience here, LONG ago (months, maybe even up to a year+?) was beyond delicious. NOW, not so much. Pork bolognese over fettuccine–overall, ok. But, at $20.50 for a small caesar salad and plateful of pasta served, not worth the ‘ok’. I prefer other Italian spots over this. Definitely was hoping for more flavor, something missing. But what? Hmm. I may not return. But if I do, I would not order the bolognese again.
Let me tell you about my most recent, most amazing Italian fine-dining experience For our anniversary, my husband and I were seated outside at a comfortable table for two and given the printed menus of our personalized NINE COURSE meal. Our gracious server opened the bottle of red wine we had been saving since our honeymoon in Italy. Each course we were served – from the chilled yellow tomato soup, to the gnocchi in mushroom cream sauce, to the braised pork with heirloom beans and grilled peaches – were awe-inspiring and delicious. There was even an intermezzo lemon sorbet to cleanse the palate and a surprise meatball course! Dessert was an incredibly decadent chocolate torte with gelato, berries and homemade whipped cream and caramel. The ingredients that the masterful chef combined to make our delectable meal – tomatoes, eggplant, chard, kale, fennel, herbs, pork, peaches, and berries – were sourced from local farms and ranchers. Our dinner lasted over two hours and each bite was phenomenal! Here’s the best part all of this happened at our favorite neighborhood food cart – Artigiano!Did you know that you can make a reservation and set the amount that you want to spend and the amazing chef, Rachael, will create a unique, seasonal menu tailoring to your favorite flavors? Did you know you can bring our own bottle of wine and they provide glasses and an opener? Did you know that Tyler will bring out plate after plate (real ones, not take-out boxes) of the best authentic Italian cuisine you can find? Did you know that there is plenty of comfortable seating? ( yes, it is a stone’s through from Woodstock but is quieter and more intimate than most outdoor seating in Portland.)Now that I know I have to spread the word. You should go experience it for yourself!
Keep Portland weird. Mouthwatering to say the least what a bang up job Tyler you get my vote
