The German brat was fresh cooked to order & had the perfect blend of flavor and a casing that snapped when I bit into it. The garlic fries were just this side of a religious experience.

In The Dog House. Chili Cheese Dogs make me happy, until I remember what they do to my waistline. Then I proceed with caution, but not just for that reason. As its not always easy to find a well rounded CCD. Maybe you find a place that makes their own fantastic Chili, only to let it all slip away by using cheap Wieners. And that can certainly go the other way as well; quality Dogs lathered in greasy sludge. Then you throw the Bun into the equation and well, you see what I mean?As much as it pains me to say it, Baileys fails on all 3 of these levels. Here’s why: Lets start with the Dog, which is of the Nathans variety, which is a very good thing. On the rare occasion that Im making Chili Dogs at home, that is the brand that I purchase. Unfortunately, Baileys has chosen to go with the Jumbo Sized ones. Who makes a Chili Cheese Dog with a jumbo dog? No one, if anything you use the exact opposite; long skinny ones. The Jumbos are simply too much for a CCD. Next, the Bun. These guys use a large Hogie roll, which is awesome for a Bratwurst or something of the like and with the size of the Dogs they use here, I see why they chose to go this route. But it simply doesnt work for a CCD. That being said, toasting it, or even steaming it wouldve gone a long way in making it work. And finally, the Chili. Its not like theres only one type of Chili that makes for a great Chili Cheese Dog. Spicy and thick, meaty and sweet, Ive tasted dozens of combinations that work fantastically together. But when you simply buy a gallon can of generic Chili and dump it into a crockpot, you are not going to impress anyone. Particularly me.Honestly, I dont really understand carts like this. What are you bringing to the table? If you simply buy other peoples products and heat them up, why do you even have a cart? These are obviously money making ventures, but most carts are born from someones passion to share that special dish that theyve mastered in their own kitchen with the rest of the world. And I can certainly get behind that. Whatever this other thing is, I cannot.Grade: D (cheap, pre-shredded in a bag cheese left nothing to question) drexlermcstyles.tumblr.com
