Really fabulous pizzeria with bits of pasta and salads that will please. On our visit we were greeted courteously and continued to be well attended by several friendly waitstaff. The back corner was too dark to read the menu but that’s what the phone is for? My salad do pulpi (grilled octopus) was a bit of a gamble that paid off many times over. Not chewy but a savoury bit of crunch on the rocket with hidden pomme frites inside. A salad so good but so bad? Yes! Try this, it won’t disappoint. The two pizzas were straight outta Italy, and the baked ziti (weakest entree) brought satisfaction nonetheless. It is our new fav Italian in PDX. Go for the outside seating in the summer.
Good food but slow. A mixed experience here. Good salads, side dish of spinach, very good pizza, polenta lasagne was comforting on a cold evening. But long wait for food, service was distracted, cranky when one of our party spilled some wine. Hope it was an off night.

We went there for happy hour on a Saturday. Good selection of well priced menu items (disclaimer – we are vegetarian and thus have a non-meat bias). House wine was decent and really cheap. Margherita pizza was great. Only thing, and this is confirmed over two visits – really loud, bad music. If it is awesome music, great, turn it up. But cranked Tom Petty? Change the playlist or turn down a couple of notches notch.
Good value and tasy. I’ve always liked Basta’s and was curious to try this place, wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. Started with the salt cod fritters which were more like mini fish & chips, sans chips, but still very good with that olive relish on top. For my main, I went with the Hanger Steak and Tuscan Fries. The steak was tender, perfectly grilled, and very tasty with a healthy dose of rosemary. There was a generous amount of food considering the dish only cost $14, other restaurants around town might easily charge double. Those dining with me went with pasta dishes, the Roman Meatball and a salmon & penne special among the selections. Again, portions were generous and everything was very tasty. We also enjoyed the ambiance with our comfortable booth, an open kitchen, and a bunch of Talking Heads blaring on the stereo. This is a nice, casual place to have a good dinner without breaking the bank. Give it a try.
I had an amazing dinner. Highly recommended.
