This Award winning restaurant is a must for all visitors! It was truly an authentic experience. From the sticky rice…to the Laap…to the Vietnamese wings! The staff was super nice and accommodating. They treated us southerners with hospitality. I wish we had this in Alabama. Everything was soooo good!

this review is actually for NW Pok Pok location prompt reply to emails regarding reservations; knowledgeable & friendly staff food is good but not excellent (for me) as I find the meals too salty for my taste- Ikes chicken wings: flavourful but salty, only good when its fresh, if you take it to go, its not the same it gets soggy and even saltier- Braised Pork: really good flavour going on here and perfect with a bowl of rice. Watch your rice intake though as you have to keep going and going because it is that good and meat is very tender. Then again, I find the salt level high. Maybe its a good thing for some people who would drink alcohol because it balances everything. – Papaya salad: typical as the other Thai restaurants, pretty good. – Thai Iced Tea: authentic taste; I wish though server would actually listen if I mentioned less ice Overall, its part of Portland, a must try resto. I suggest making reservations at least a month before you visit especially on weekends.

I have eaten my fair share of Thai food and have always thought that I had a good grasp of some of the more obscure dishes. Coming to Pok Pok really showed me how much more wonderful food I still need to try. I personally would have rated this at a 4.5 but since that option doesnt exist Im happy to round up. I was very pleased with the meal.

A very hyped up place by friends (and Internet) but definitely doesn’t live up to it. Got there at 7pm on a Tuesday without a reservation and was told it was a 2.5-3 hour wait so we decided to do take out instead, not a huge problem. Ordered the spicy chicken wings, khao soi, the pok pok special (half a chicken, papaya salad, sticky rice), and a side order of jasmine rice. Waited 15 minutes which was pretty quick but once we got back to the hotel to eat, I realized they forgot to pack our sticky rice which was such a disappointment. I understand that it’s busy but they probably didn’t care enough to double check the order, which was not even a big order. I wouldn’t recommend the pok pok special because the papaya salad was so small and not worth the extra 5.75$ difference between the special and just half a chicken – can’t comment on the sticky rice though. Papaya salad had a big wedge of raw cabbage on the bottom which was weird and just seemed like they wanted to skimp out on the salad portion. The spicy chicken wings was the best dish out of the order but was too salty. The khao soi was decent but the portion is too small. The price does not justify the quality… At least the staff was nice.

When I was pregnant, I would wake up in the morning craving their wings. I like the ambiance in he restaurant itself, but the waitstaff is really hit or miss as far as friendliness so I will usually order to go. The coconut rice and pork collar are not to be missed!

I hadn’t been to Pok Pok in awhile and it was so fun to return. The food is different from most of the Thai food that I eat. The restaurant also has a different atmosphere which I like. We dined at the bar which was a blast as we watched the bartender make many unusual looking cocktails. The two cocktails I drank were really good. I especially enjoyed the tamarind whiskey sour. The pomegranate caipirinha was also tasty. For dinner we had Ike’s Vietnamese Chicken Wings that were served with pickled veggies. We also had the wild forest mushroom salad that was cold and refreshing and the pork shoulder and belly layered with intense flavors and served with sticky rice. Everything but the wings were new options to try. I hope to travel to Thailand one day and it will be interesting to compare Pok Pok’s Street Thai food.
