can’t get enough of this place. i haven’t had anything here that wasn’t great. if you have a chance, order the duck egg sandwich. and, if you’re really brave, order it with sausage. it’s simply fantastic, though be prepared to be full, it’s a gut bomb.
This restaurant was listed in the Oregonian dining guide 2015. It has a parking lot on the side which is rare on busy Division st. Coffee is delicious and their flaky pastries are the flakiest (and I mean that in a good way)
Wonderful spot to stop by before or after an afternoon of cruising down SE Division. The space is stylish and adjacent to Ava Gene’s. The breads and pastries are all great. I tried the pizza special which came with mozzarella, grapes, rosemary and sea salt to finish. In other words, it was delicious. The giant gold scissors served to cut your pizza are a fun addition too. Service was very friendly as well. paperairplaneblog.com
Eggs in Purgatory had a great ring to it, until I realized it’s just a really raw and wet egg submerged in tomato sauce with potato chunks. Not something I would recommend for breakfast or any meal. The dish came with some hard, gum-slicing bread and i was not offered any butter. My partner had strawberry jam and butter on walnut bread, which was unforgivingIy hard as well. And she’s Russian, they love hard bread! In her words, it lacked the nuance of good hard bread, which would consist of a hard crust easing into the soft body. This was just an overpriced rock. Nelson the Seagull does bread much better in Vancouver, BC. The coffee was fine.
This place is really great. I know that isn’t very descriptive, but it is. The atmosphere is wonderful–clean, open, other-worldly (or other country-ly?). Let’s talk about their pizza. The sauce is extra delicious–a very robust tomato flavor with good spices tossed in. I’ve had the margherita and normally, I’d prefer fresh basil, but the cooked basil on this pizza only enhances the flavor. They have a salad of croutons, cucumbers, and heirlooms all tossed in a scallion vinaigrette and I wish I could eat it every day for the rest of my life. My favorite part (besides the food), are the scissors you get to use to cut the pizza. They’re super big and beautiful and they make you feel really powerful, which is always welcome. Bathrooms are great. I think the soap dispensers are very fun. The staff is helpful and friendly and know what to recommend. This place rules. You should eat here.
Great coffee, pastries, location. Can’t ask for more. Have not tried the pizza yet tho. #faverave for sure. Def worth stopping in at if in the neighborhood.
