Buy the ribs!. My wife is a friend of the owner’s sister, and had told me that her friend’s husband always get the ribs when he goes. I figured I’d see why. I’m so glad I did! They are without a doubt some of the very best ribs I’ve ever had, and I’ve had ribs all over the country. There are some great places to get ribs here in Portland, but if you haven’t been to Sckavone’s yet, do yourself a huge favor.The staff are friendly and service is prompt. Great neighborhood ambiance, and the prices are reasonable.Check it out!
Throwback, non-Portlandia gem. This place is just what SE Portland needs. It’s so unimpressed with itself. It’s just a solid, non-flashy, homestyle restaurant that appeared to be patronized by 90% regulars. The meatloaf was fantastic, the veggies perfectly seasoned and not over-cooked, the service was excellent, and the price was right. The only drawback is the limited number of draft beers, but overall this will be a place my family will enjoy some good, relatively inexpensive meals in the future.
Unbeatable Meatloaf. Absolutely my favorite brick & mortar the meatloaf doesn’t loaf around it simply rocks in fact i have not eaten anything bad there, drinks are good but when ordering a vodka martini make sure you tell them vodka they are old school and it will be gin if not asked for, there menu is small but awesome and no one does meatloaf like sckavone’s
Group planner caused bad situation. The incident described below occurred because the group involved showed up with 50 people at dinner time instead of the 20 they referenced when they called. We had explained at that time that we could only handle a group that size. The situation was awkward and stressful for their group, our customers who were already in the restaurant, our staff and confusing for other people who were coming in for dinner.Handling a group that big is cumbersome and time consuming and it would have forced us to ignore our already seated customers for a half hour or more. I made the decision that protected their experience.We have been supportive to schools, youth athletics and neighborhood groups including accommodating a number of meetings and gatherings at our place. I think anyone who has been on either side of a group event understands the importance of the crisp communications and information needed for everything to work well.
So disapponted in this place! We choose Sckavone’s as a place for our preschool class to meet up for a scoop of ice cream. Even made a reservation 2 wks in advance. When we showed up last night, the owner changed his mind and kicked us out. Not exactly the family friendly place they claim to be. Will NEVER go back there after last night. The owner was a jerk and turned away 15 families. Not a smart move.
WE just left Sckavones and loved to mac n cheese, fish and hummus plate. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We recommend and will return again. Family friendly and quick service!!
