I got beef bowl and spicy salmon rolls. Beef bowl really sucked. Barely had any teriyaki on it and the meat wasn’t cooked right. When you go to joy teriyaki you get that charbroiled taste on the beef. The one here was none existent. Almost like it was microwaved or something. Not good. The spicy salmon rolls were ok. I’m guessing it would be tough to mess that up.
Best sushi in portland. Best sushi I have had in my life. Tried so many places to see if they could beat these, but no. Love the place, customer service and most of all evrything on the menu!!! Recommend, recommend!
Ummmmm…?. I don’t understand why this place has such a good rating. The service is terrible. On a Tuesday night there is one server, a hostess, 3 sushi cheifs, & a cook. It took 10 mins before the sever took my order. I got green tea, miso soup, kimchi, edemame, multiple kinds of sushi & mango mochi ice cream. The soup came out first, it was great. Then the edemame and kimchi. Edemame was alright, it was served warm which I liked but a few pods were bad. The kimchi was strange, I know it can be made multiple ways but this was barely spicy and kind of sweet. I didn’t like it very much. While eating these 3 dishes I still had not received my green tea or water. I asked the server & he apologized. Immediately brought me my sushi & a few minutes later brought one cup of tea, no pot & a glass of water no straw. I was very unimpressed by the sushi, very few pieces had much flavor, not even the salmon. And a few pieces didn’t taste fresh, the tuna in particular. The mochi was good but I’ve never seen mochi ice cream served with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. It threw off the distinct taste I love about mochi ice cream. Through the whole experience none of my dishes were cleared & the bill wasn’t correct. Because I’m a nice person I informed the server that he left off a few items. I thought about not saying anything but I’m too honest of a person. I even tipped the guy 6 bucks which he didn’t deserve. I was confused & disappoint with my visit tonight. I saw the 95% rating & expected a lot more. I love Japanese food & it always sucks when you leave without feeling satisfied.
By far the BEST sushi!! Coming from Hawaii and being spoiled with fresh fish and outstanding sushi this place is by far the best I’ve found in Oregon. From his sauces and presentation to the sushi rice **Perfect and done with love**They are limited on staff but most Japanese places are this way. Well worth the wait :)I’m never a reviewer for things but this I had too.
Yummy Yami. I have been going here for the past year and love it. The family and employees who work there are sweet and accommodating and the sushi is always fresh and delicious! The Oregon roll is legit.
Sushi was good and fresh but cut super thin almost see thru… service was horrible all three times I went. . Won’t be back
Food is awesome, service is terrible. Once waited 15 minutes to be seated in a practically empty restaurant, and left before being seated. Ordering take-out is your best bet.
