Some Bargains Arent Worth Taking…. I was pretty skeptical about this cart. I just had a feeling I was going to end up with a box of greasy gut bombs, I mean its Chinese fast food, from a cart. But I HAD to know, so… The menu had changed a little from the one I had picked up the week before; a few of the entrees were now offered in 3 different sizes Small ($2), Medium ($4) and Large ($6). Taking no chances, I ordered the large Orange Chicken w/ Steamed Rice. It comes with your choice of soups and I went with the Hot and Sour. A quick wander around the pod and then, like a jack in the box, the lady popped out from the window with my bag, flagging me down. I thanked her and began the long journey to my home, 50 ft. away. I didnt bother with anticipation, I simply laid everything out and began removing lids and opening cartons. And….. the Orange Chicken was a breath of fresh air; a ridiculous amount of golden chunks slathered in a smooth orange sauce that had just the right amount of tang to it (though I did have to add some chili flakes to give it a little heat). Not greasy, not gloppy; this was actually pretty good stuff. The Hot and Sour didnt disappoint either, nice amount of kick and the texture was just right. Ive had my fair share of bad Chinese over the years and this aint it. Also, the Large turned out to be enough for almost 3 meals, so I’ll go Medium next time…Grade: B (Ill move onto the rice and chow mein dishes next and see how that goes, but for now Im a fan)Update: 6/2/12. Had the Chicken Chow Mein Chop Suey and it was delicious. Again; surprisingly healthy in both taste and size. drexlermcstyles.tumblr.com
