Place looks like a sport bar but has the best Cantoneese food in the city. Staff is super nice and attentive even when theyre slammed. A few reviews here suggest the painted eyebrow lady is bad… Im going to outright disagree. Ive been here a half dozen times and that lady is really awesome and friendly. Cant recommend this place enough. Not a lot of flash, but great food, great service and fantastic cocktails!
Bad service and food was terrible. I came in here and had to wait over thirty minutes just for the rude waitres to come over to my table and say you need anything i guess she did not figure i was hungry as i had to get the menu myself. she coud hardly wait long enough at my table to take tohe order. i never got the soup i ordered and my meal was ay over priced for the substandard quality of the food.the server fake smile and unpleasant demonor and attitude as if she was doing me a favor left me feeling unlucky maybe it was because i was only drinking water and she felt that she was not going to make a big tip on me. she seemed to be all over a group of men that she just could not get enough of.i could not stand her painted on eyebrows anyway!!! so if your looking for a seedy little over priced chinese food with rude servers then this is the place for you. she over charged me too for the soup thtai never got just paid it and will never be back there are so many other place where you can get respect and a good deal.
A true hidden gem! The Chinese cuisine is more authentic here than most places. Fresh food with a traditional inspiration, full service bar with great beer selection and great wait staff make this a popular destination. Additionally, Alison (the manager/waiter/bartender is super friendly and invites all customers into the restaurant. I say this place is a great local hangout with amazing food and low prices.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. These guys serve up some basic, but good Chinese food. I’d had the Chicken Curry Rice once before and it was tasty enough to merit a visit to their dining room. We were happy to find that their Pork Fried Rice wasnt the typical greasy affair at all. Its obviously prepared fresh for each order. This was particularly apparent with the wonderful chopped up pieces of Pork that are in it. Probably the healthiest Fried Rice I can recall having. The soups that accompany the lunch specials were not such a hot ticket though. While the Hot & Sour was passable, albeit; a bit heavy on the cornstarch, the Egg Drop was DOA; no flavor at all. Our Kung Pao Chicken on the other hand, was very well represented here. If only the White Rice hadnt had the disposition of a brick. So, its a bit of a mixed bag at the ole Lucky House. The things that were good were excellent but then the simpler items left us pondering the Jekyll and Hyde aspect of who exactly is back in the kitchen. Still, I’d probably return to give them another shot. Grade: C+ drexlermcstyles.tumblr.com
