  Nice little place with great service and outdoor seating.The food is very good.I enjoyed the chili relleno.The chips are hot and fresh and the salsa is very good.

  Burrito Vaquero is the best Mexican restaurant in Roseburg. Thats the definitive compliment in a city where most restaurants pass off dry, lukewarm meat shavings as al pastor, or serve a gloppy, tasteless mess listed as the daily special, a cheese enchilada combination plate.At Burrito Vaquero, handmade tortillas are prepared by a friendly abuelita, who operates her station on the restaurant floor and brings tortillas to your table. Look to your right as you enter and smile at her.The aroma of fresh tortillas is inviting. Service is attentive without swarming. And music plays softly over speakers. You can talk across the table without resorting to shouting or hand gestures.Burrito Vaquero isnt out of the way or the hole-in-the-wall location one comes to expect when discussing treasured finds. Located on the west side of Garden Valley Boulevard (I-5 Exit 125) at the intersection of NE Estelle St., Burrito Vaquero is perched in the center of an awkward-shaped lot. Parking is available in back, off NE Estelle.Dont let the restaurants relatively small size dissuade you. My review follows six visits; breakfast, lunch twice and dinner three times. I ordered via the drive thru for breakfast and one dinner (photos of the drive thru menu boards are posted). I had to wait for a table only once.Heres seven dishes my family tried and would order again:Arroz con camarones ($11.50): a half-pound of shrimp with fresh mushrooms, onions and green peppers, served on a bed of rice with melted Monterey and jack cheese, smothered in a mild sauce and garnished with avocado and tomatoes; the dish is served with tortillas. I recommend you choose corn tortillas.Enchiladas de mole ($9.50): Mole sauce covers two corn tortillas stuffed with chicken and cheese; the dish is served with rice and beans.Nachos Vaquero ($9.95): tortilla chips, choice of meat (carne asada, carnitas, chicken, beef, shredded beef), beans, cheese, tomato, onions, cilantro, guacamole and sour cream. I recommend carnitas.Two chile rellenos combination plate ($11.45): Self-explanatory; the dish is served with rice and beans.Fish burrito ($7.25): white fish, black beans, home dressing, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheese.Supreme burrito ($8.95): rice, beans, tomato, onion, cilantro, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce cheese and choice of meat (carne asada, carnitas, chicken, beef, shredded beef).Breakfast burrito ($5.50): chorizo with scrambled eggs, potatoes and cheese in a big flour tortilla. If chorizo isnt your thing, choose from bacon, machaca or huevos rancheros chile verde.Of course, theres room for improvement:Because it faces Garden Valley Boulevard, the drive thru is challenging. Traffic noise drowns out the speaker. Call ahead and skip the on-site ordering altogether.Ive ordered disenchanted margaritas twice, each at least a half-ounce shy of my tequila contentment. A few domestic and foreign beers are available by the bottle but Im likely to mine the cocktail menu again until I strike gold.Those quibbles aside, Burrito Vaquero is still the best Mexican restaurant in Roseburg.
