Changed menu. My wife and I have been going to the barfly’a for a year now and love the atmosphere and the bar tenders have all been great. one of the reasons I am doing this is that I have always told friends about the place and the menu is great and then tonight my wife and I felt the need to eat at the barfly’s. The food was good and I used to love the beer batter fries, but they change them to some kind of cheap generic tasteless fries from a supplier called sysco. What were you thinking. Stay with what works and makes your customers happy. Sorry about ranting, but so many places go cheap, don’the be like them and tell Sysco those are beer batter fries.

Just opened Friday!. Although I thought its choice of names was interesting, it’s a very attractive, new-from-the-studs-out bar. Pool tables. Eclectic mix of ’60’s pop and country music on the sound system. I understand this place is brought to us by the folks who own Windjammers, Giorgio’s and three or four other B & G type eateries in town.A perky young server, Brandy, got me perched and menued right away. I asked if the Burgers are fresh ground. She assured me they are. Battered Fries are the default spuds but Hand Cut are an upon-request option. I went with those. The menu also reminded not to forget to ask for Fry Sauce. I didn’t, but what I got was Ranch Dressing. Brandy explained that the ingredients for the Fry Sauce had not arrived as yet. Malt Vinegar was provided upon request. I ordered a Bacon Bleu Burger which was good, but fell short of candidacy for my Best Burgers guides. For $7.95 it was a solid basket value. I’d say it’s on a par with Stone Front’s. I washed it down with one of the, mostly interchangeable, commercial Lagers. ($2)They have a very interesting and fairly extensive Steak menu, which bears further consideration.Brandy did a good job and with a couple more weeks to lock in her familiarization with the menu, she’ll be an A+ pro. The fare seems to be in the upper quality ranges for bar food and is priced reasonably, as has always been the case in their other establishments. With the exception of a few worn out dive bars, which are really not in direct competition with this fresh, new place, there are really few other options in this part of town. I think Bar Fly’s will fill a niche here nicely.
