I don’t understand this business. Been going there for decades, first place I ever had a German Pancake. Now I make them at home but still stopped in. The last several years they seem to have went down hill. The food is terrible and they don’t seem to care either. A couple of years ago a friend and I stopped at Elmer’s in Salem on the way back from the beach. I had fish and chips, it was awful and no one seemed to care. I wrote an email to the company and heard nothing. Even the server on duty that day was embarrassed. Just a couple of weeks ago I decide to see if anything had changed, not a bit. This time it was a French Dip, it was terrible too, bread fell apart when dipped because it was to soft and fresh which any moron should know not to use bread like that for dipping, the aujus was pretty much colored water with no flavor, very little meat. The fries where good but that’s it. There was a time when a customer wasn’t happy with their meal management would actually try and make it right, not much anymore. I emailed them about this and heard nothing. Pretty sad, at least McDonalds will contact you and make it right.

Poor Service. My husband and I went for breakfast and waited at least 30 minutes for service. We watched people being waited on that arrived after us and we still had not been asked what we wanted. We drank our coffee we had been served when we orignally seated, paid $4.98 for 2 cups of coffee and we left. The hostess offered to seat us in another section but what was the point? Not a happy experience at all.

The worst food and service we have had at any restaraunt in years! It took 30 minutes to get our food that was processed instead of fresh ingredients they talk about in their menu.

Does not fail to disappoint. We’ve not eaten dinner at Elmer’s for a couple of years because of disappointing dinner. In the interest of being a proactive customer – I offered my observations online at their website – receiving, but not using a certificate for two free dinners. The coupon expired in one year – unused. A senior family member suggested a return visit on a Tuesday night – it is actually worse – my wife ordered the hot turkey dinner and received what looked like pressed turkey – deli meat atop a glob of awful looking dressing that she did not eat. The gravy was flavorless, almost like bulion with flour-no taste. The biscuits served at the table were hard – so hard a table knife tip bounced off the biscuit making a wood-like thud noise. We did have a nice waitress – who apologized repeatedly. Our senior member ordered an ‘in-bone’ pork chop, it was actually a pork steak piece, thin and overcooked – he did not finish it. Our waitress took the pork chop to the back to show the owner-manager. This person did not appear, but we were offered a free piece of pie. We could overlook lukewarm coffee – but someone should oversee the cooks and food brought to the table. Elmers on Market Street did not fail to disappoint again.

Blah. The food here is very mediocre.

Food was in good quantity, but lacked in quality. Tomatoes in my omlete tasted slightly sour and was generally unimpressed.
