Pros and Cons. I had heard many things about Five Guys; Some good, some bad. I figured that the only way to put this debate to rest was to try it myself. Five guys offers single and double patty burgers with a laundry list of toppings to choose from. I ordered a single with, lettuce, mayo, tomato, mustard, and ketchup. The burger was really juicy and flavorful and was a great value! The fries were…HORRIFIC!!! I am already a hater of hand-cut fries, but these were especially bad. They were very soggy and flavorless. Doing everything I could to mask the nastiness of the fries, I made my way to the condiment bar. I had heard about people who dip their fries in vinegar (nod to Chuck Bradley), which I thought was strange, but was pleasantly pleased when I tried it for myself. Go to five guys for a good custom burger but pass on the fries. Only for the burgers, give em a taste.

Not worth the price. I have tried it twice now. The burger was just ok and the fries were awful. The fries were not done, they were soggy and tatseless. I don’t think I will try it again for a long time if ever.

Burgers are good. But that is about it. The burgers were good… not sensational. I didn’t care for the fries and glad I didn’t when I saw how many calories are in them. It’s ok can’t say I don’t like it.

I highly recommend trying if you haven’t already. Great burgers and fries. Plus curtesy peanuts:-)

OK But Not Great. I don’t know what all the fuss is about with Five Guys. This place suffers from the same flawed concept as Subway and Pita Pit, namely, they expect me to build my own sandwich. How am I supposed to know what combination of flavors tastes really good? Case in point: I ordered mustard on my burger and it turned out to be yellow mustard which isn’t my favorite. The jalapenos were raw and not the pickled kind you would get in a good Mexican torta. They overwhelmed the burger. I’d rather stick with a place like Willamette Burger Co. where they serve burgers that have passed the taste test with the staff and customers. The fries were good and the piled up bags of potatoes from Rigby, ID were a nice touch. For the uninitiated, Rigby is the home of Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of the television.I guess the challenge here is to find the right flavor combination. Maybe fried onions, mayo, fried mushrooms, green peppers and tomatoes next time.

About time. Pros: super friendly service, easy to order, cooked as you order, awesome fries, good flavor.Cons: small place for huge demand 😉

This is the new reigning king of fast food burger places in Salem!. I hung back briefly to observe how the other patrons were behaving and what they were having. I had been previously warned about the portion sizes. The fries looked wonderful but the counter lady said the regular order usually fed about three people. I decided to have a companion with me to try them. I ordered a small cheese burger with the works. ($4.09) It was fantastic. I arrived about 11:30 AM and the place was jumpin ‘. They had 14 people working and they were all busy. By the time I left there was a line out the door! The free peanuts are a great idea, but they were about grade 4, very dusty and low quality. Almost culls. I’m anxious to come back with my wife or a friend and attack the fries.
