Average. This place definitely caters to the Hispanic crowd in Salem. Most all the signs were in Spanish first then English and some only in Spanish. However it’s very bright and cheerful in the resteraunt and the atmosphere was pleasant. The lady at the counter was nice.My sister got a Peach Smoothie which she said was fine and similar to what you would find at a Jamba Juice. I decided to try a sandwich called a Torta. I got the chicken breast Torta. It was ok, nothing spectacular. The bread was good and soft though. Everything else on the sandwich was a bit lite on the toppings side.Overall it was just average.
Ordered a Torta and Juice (carrot, celery, beet and orange) they have a very nice juicer in the back surrounded by fresh veggies. However, I watched her grab juice from a refrigerator and fill my cup she then proceeded to juice one carrot into a separate glass. Juicing fresh veggies is very healthy but pre-juicing gallon sized bottles is VERY UNSAFE. Fresh juiced veggies will go bad and create sickly bacteria if they are not consumed immediatly or properly sealed in an air right jug. The worst thing is that she ‘preteneded’ to juice fresh carrots. I did not get to question her because I did not want to embarrass her in front of other customers. I might call later – Torta was great but the juice is unsafe!
More than Fruit, Juice and Smoothies. I wanted to try one of their small Quesadillas, so I limited myself to two scrumptious Tamales at Azteca Bakery, just down the street. This place has all the earmarks of a Mexican healthy Juice bar. But closer inspection reveals a limited menu of regular Mexican fare such as Tortas and Quesadillas. I ordered that latter in plain Cheese. It came with Salsa, Sour Cream and a small Salad topped with Pico de Gallo. The price was $2.50 and it was very good. The compact venue sparkles as does the restroom which boasts quick hot water and coat hooks. (Two things lacking in far too many public restrooms.) They have photos on the walls of most of their dishes. Some of the fresh Fruit bowls looked inviting enough to warrant a visit another day.
