Best Teriyaki in town!. Excellent option for these who love seafood, chicken, and beef teriyaki. This refreshing homemade orange salad dressing is full of flavor and tastes great over your favorite salad. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Hidden Gem!. What a nice surprise J’s Teriyaki is hidden in a strip mall on Lancaster Drive. I had an egg roll and spicy chicken teriyaki. Both were delicious. The chicken was spicy but not overly so. The sauce served with the egg roll was quite unique and tasty. The service was perfect and my server was engaging and attentive. And the prices are quite reasonable. The only negative I found was the tea. When I asked for tea I was served a cup of lipton (bag in cup). This was a disappointment – but not a deal breaker. I’ll definitely be back.

Another good experience!. The same delightful server/owner waited on us that so impressed us on our last visit.SWMBO was feeling a bit off the beam and just had a bowl of Miso Soup. I went for broke with their Chicken, Beef and Gyoza combination plate which included White Sticky Rice and Salad with a unique Orange Dressing. The Beef was spicy, the Chicken was done in good Teriyaki Sauce and the Gyoza (3 pieces) was crisp and light.Choy (unsure of spelling) brought an extra plate to encourage me to share with my bride. A thoughtful touch, we thought. Carol liked her Soup and did taste tiny nibbles of my food just to share the experience. We agreed that everything was top drawer. The venue was neat, clean and inviting. Our last two visits here serve to demonstrate that new ownership can make a silk purse from a sow’s ear! What a welcome and necessary change. We recommend this place.10 Jun, 2011What a turn-around!. I’m changing my vote! I had heard J’s Teriyaki had changed hands. The new people have really got it right. We were seated and served today by a young woman who was friendliness and efficiency personified. SWMBO had Teriyaki Chicken and I had Tempura Prawns. Both dishes came with nice green Salads and Sticky Rice. My Tempura was light and the Shrimp were flavorful. I sampled Carol’s Chicken and it was terrific! The place is not fancy but it is clean and welcoming. What a sea-change from the sullen attitude and mediocre food I got when the previous owners were here.Note: Thank you Shirley for enticing me to try this place again.09 Jun, 2010I walked in about 11:45AM.. There was a fellow sitting behind the counter on a stool. He did not, at first stand up. I read the menu on the wall and ordered Spicy Chicken and rice and told him water was all I wanted to drink. He turned and walked back to the kitchen area. I stood there several minutes and finally called back to him requesting a glass of water. He filled a glass and handed it to me. I went to my table and waited. 15 minutes (+/-) later he brought my food. I won’t say the chicken was underdone, but it was close. The teriyaki sauce was very dark and thick. I thought at first that it was plumb sauce. The sticky rice was perfect. As usually happens when I have Spicy Chicken, my water glass ran dry early on. I finished my meal while leisurely reading a book. I was there roughly 50 minutes and was the only patron in the place. When the man put my food on the table, he vanished into the back and I never saw him again. During this whole time he never spoke a word to me. Not one. It may have been due to a language challenge, but I was totally neglected. I give the food one star and the service no stars. The decor is not worthy of mention. The fact that there are several much better choices in Salem for teriyaki was evidenced by the lack of customers during the lunch hour. It seems I was their rush!

Love this place!. My parents, my four children and I stumbled upon this place two days ago and were so happy we did! The lady helping us went out of her way to make sure we had a pleasurable lunch and as we left she offered little gifts to my children. The kids all agreed they would love to go back anytime as they all found favorite foods, and that definitely doesn’t happen often. My father is vegetarian and had no trouble finding something he loved. Some of us had the yakisoba noodles, some the teriyaki and rice, and my sons shared orders of California rolls and chicken teriyaki rolls (yum). We all loved it so much we went back for lunch today and took my husband along this time. The lady there was happy to see us back and again went out of her way to give us a great experience. My husband loved the salmon rolls and we all really enjoyed the vegetable tempura (asparagus is my personal fav). Besides the service and great food, we are delighted with the price. Our meals ranged from $4.95 to $8.95 at the most, and that one was a lot of food so we ended up sharing it. She gave us a punch card so since we had so many of us both times we ended up getting a free meal on the second visit. We will definitely be frequent customers.

We really liked it!. Our experience was totally different than the other reviewer. We were immediately greeted by a very gracious Japanese lady, who tried VERY hard to please us the whole time we were there. The food was excellent, also. I went with a girlfriend for lunch the first time and had the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl and a Gyoza appetizer. They were both delicious, especially the gyozas (pot stickers). I liked it so well I talked my husband into coming with me for dinner a couple of days later. We had the Hot & Spicy Pork this time. Yummy! Hot–but not too hot–and had a very good flavor. They have a 30% off discount right now, too! Even better.
