Good Food, poor service. Good food, large portions and good taste. But unfortunately the service was bad the waitress maybe came and checked on us about every 20 mins are drinks ran dry and we had to go find the waitress in the restaurant to finally get our bill. Won’t be going back.

How the mighty have fallen. I’d heard that since the corporate chain failed and these became independent things had slipped. I’ll be kind and simply say… We won’t be back.

I don’t even eat seafood. This place draws me in for happy hour even though the only thing from the sea I eat is Nori. If this isn’t an argument for good prices and service I don’t know what is. Whoever I am with when I go always enjoys their food though, so the sea food must hold it’s own too. I love the chicken tenderloins, the burger and the onion rings, but my mother for example always orders clam chowder and tempura prawns or the cod and fries off the happy hour menu. I also really like the sausage and chicken linguini off the regular menu. Sure it’s a chain and nothing fancy or spectacular, but I always leave satisfied and during happy hour I can do it for under 10 bucks and have a drink.

Don’t even walk into this place. Not worth it.

Just OK for seafood. This review is for the Newport Seafood Grill. My wife and I drove through Salem on our way to Newport. We were famished after a long flight and decided to stop at this grill. I ordered their mahi maha baja tacos, which were below average. They were dull. They would have been better if the corn tortillas were heated up a bit. My wife’s grilled salmon, on the other hand, was perfectly cooked and seasoned. All in all, this place seems to be hit and miss. It filled the hole, but that’s about it. Service was good.

There’s a serious paucity of seafood places in Salem!. This fact alone allows this one to rank among the best in town. The food is good. The service is above average. The prices are on the dear side. I think, all round, McGrath’s noses Newport Bay out of the top spot.
