Good Hot and Sour Soup!. Theirs is among my favorite versions of H & S Soup around. (Gold Dragon in Salem is still the best)The proprietress here is always so accommodating and gracious. Her accented English and my hearing deficiency makes for a communication challenge, but we manage to muddle through. As I may have commented before the Tea here is dark, rich and full bodied, a rarity in Asian restaurants of all stripes. The only two small dark clouds in this place’s sunny sky are these: The men’s room is in need of some serious house-keeping attention. Also the hot water was very long in coming. Inconvenience can be negated by proper training. I’m getting to know the places where I should turn it on when I walk in so as to have hot water by the time I’m ready to use it. Sometimes this works. Sometimes it never comes.I’ve been here a few times now. The food and the service always find the mark.03 Apr, 2011I can’t speak to authenticity.. But this is easily in the top tier of Chinese restaurants in the mid-valley. My bride ordered Parchment Chicken from the appetizer menu plus Pork Foo Young and Steamed Rice. She thought the Chicken was salty, but that’s the nature of the dish. Her Pork Foo Young was better than any I remember. (I include John’s in Keizer, our #1 go-to-Chinese place, in that assessment.) I started with a good cup of Hot and Sour Soup, then Curry Chicken which was extremely flavorful, if slightly mild, and a side of Pork Fried Rice (also better than average). Even the Tea was stand-out. The restaurant was clean and comfortable and our server, Joie, was efficient, demure and pleasant.
