Great food, wonderful prices, and very friendly staff. It’s a nice spot to take the family for breakfast on the weekend. My wife and I always order the Country Breakfast.
Finding it is tricky!. Silverton nearly always charms me. In nice weather, it always has a festive atmosphere with lots of street activity. You might even get a glimpse of the mayor who is, to be generous, an interesting curiosity. Today there was an accordionist belting our old-time waltz tunes and a plump grandmother dancing her heart out with an imaginary partner. Her smile told me she was remembering a lover from long ago. Nice.As you travel south east on Water Street heading out of Silverton toward Silver Creek Falls, the blocks start getting ridiculously long. I nearly turned around to back-track thinking I must have missed Water Mountain. Finally I spotted it. Its in a building that I think was a real estate office years ago. Its nicely converted and has an indoor dining room plus a large covered patio for warm weather enjoyment. I had a nice chat with Obed, the owner, who listened carefully as I explained how I wanted my Reuben constructed. He hit the bulls-eye with this one. He uses good Rye Bread and Corned Beef. The Kraut was carefully placed between the Meat and Cheese and just the right amount of Thousand Island Dressing was applied. The Sandwich comes with your choice of sides. I had a simple but fresh and crisp Garden Salad with Romaine Lettuce and Julienned Carrots with Honey Mustard Dressing on the side. It was very good. Its been awhile since Ive had a Reuben this good for $6.50!Obed told me hes been in business there about 10 years. Hes a nice guy who cares about the food he offers. Simple, good quality fare for extremely reasonable prices is well worth a try next time youre in the area.
