First off I want to say I was there an hour before closing. It is getting near the end, but by no means a last minute customer.The restaurant itself is much you would expect from a pizzeria. It has a bar with low to middle shelf liquor and popular microbrews (Rogue, Deschutes, etc). It had numerous televisions with sports channels on them. Also a part was in the middle of construction as they are adding a kid arcade with tickets to be won for prizes.The girlfriend and I were greeted very warmly and the girl there was chatty. So far so good. We told her we will be hanging out outside. We were the only ones there and it appeared all the staff were only cleaning, so I figured 20-30 minutes, my pizza should be getting close to done.When I went to check, I saw our order still sitting on the counter half made with no one near it. I did see about 5 people running around cleaning however. When they saw me standing there they went back to the pizza. So by the time I left, it was now near closing.The pizza, however, was not too bad. It is about what one expects at a pizzeria. It had a thin crispy crust and had a strong tomato-ey flavored sauce. Unlike other pizzerias I find in salem, they did actually have fresh mushrooms available(I hate the canned ones!) Overall decent pizza, not epic, but a solid pizza.Overall it was their service that did them in, other than the pleasant greeting we received, it was downhill from there. In the end I did end up bringing home a pizza I did not mind eating.
Great food!!. Great pizza with thin crispy crust. If you love Walery’s, Paddingtons you gotta go to Donatello’s!!! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great appetizers too!
Terrible pizza. No flavor & couldn’t do half & half. Over priced and lacked toppings.
Was hoping this could be a new pizza hang out spot to take the kids and was sadly disappointed, we were a party of 4 adults, 4 kids, me and my family of 5 ordered 2 pizzas and a order of boneless wings and salad bar. The pizza came out 15 minutes after ordering it, and was cold, took the wings 10 minutes after the pizza and were cold on the inside with horrible sauce, I took the wings back with 2 missing out of the order and the Guy gave me a glare like I was lying, another 10 minutes of waiting all he did was throw them in a microwave which caused the breading to fall off (gross) and he made sure he didn’t add 2 extra, went to the salad bar and was ready to go up again and sat and waited 10 minutes to receive another plate, got a snippy attitude from waiting with my one plate on being informed where to place it. Our family that joined us ordered a supreme pizza and waited 40 minutes for it! They called 10 numbers that were ordered after theirs, we had to keep reminding them about the order, it had NP sauce, which might be good since the sauce is not pleasant in flavor, we complained about the wait and cold food and got a 10 gift card, which together the orders came out to 75! The place is loud and echoes, they have to game system right by where you order and door which causes chaos, safe your money go to walleries. Will not go again!
A third Visit. We’ve been very pleased with Donatello’s and glad our son told us about them. Our second visit was a birthday outing and we arrived just in time for the lunch buffet (11:30 to 1:30 daily, includes salad bar) and they went out of their way to make sure we had a good selection of pizza. One of our sons ordered a Pesto Chicken that was delicious. On our most recent visit our new selection was Bartender, everyone in our party like it. Our kind of pizza!30 Oct, 2013After the movie. They are in the same parking lot with Northern Lights and made the perfect place to have pizza with the family. We were all pleased. Enjoyed the flavor of the two pizza we shared, pepperoni and Hawaiian. Really liked the crust. It was there standard and thin, but strong enough and not tough. Some of the best we have had in a long time. They were very helpful in explaining things as it was our first visit. Our son had been there before and recommended it. My husband had the salad bar to round out his meal, good choice. Simple and adequate, with quite a few nice toppings. We’ll go back!
Good food not very friendly. We had the lunch buffet on 11/30/2013.The food was good, but the lady behind the counter was not friendly and could almost be considered rude. I will try it again, but if employees are unfriendly again I won’t be back.
I love this place!. I have been there twice now. The first time I went alone for the lunch buffet. The pizza was fantastic! I really like the thin crust & they have an apple desert pizza that tastes really good.The second time I took my girlfriend & her daughter. We ordered a large Super Supreme pizza. Again, I like the thin crust. The toppings were plentiful & the flavor was really good. We all thought the pizza was fantastic!The customer service was good. I was greeted at the door both times & the people who helped me at the counter were very friendly.I will go back!
