I’ve been eating at Casa El mirador for past 12 years. Great food. I recommend el burrito de la Casa. And don’t forget to order the thier red sauce with it. Best Mexican food in the gorge.

Possibly biased. Disclaimer: I’m not a huge americanized mexican food fan. It is the comfort food of choice for my wife, so this stop was compromise. Starting with the good: the building is new, nice, and clean. Their salsa is good (needs a little salt though). Unlike many Amerimex joints, their portions are just right; you don’t have to be rolled out after eating. Now for the not so good: Prices were a little steep (~$10/entree), and our waitress was a little less attentive than desired. Most disappointing though, my grilled veggie burrito desperately needed some sauce; it was far too dry. My wife’s enchiladas were better, but still, I’ve had better Amerimex food.Bottom line: If you’re in the Dalles and desperately need to eat at a family-style Mexican restaurant, this will fit the bill. Just don’t expect anything great.

I’ve had some bad Mexican food in OR, but this may be a new winner. While the staff was friendly and the place clean, this was the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. I order the house special Carnitas. What I got was a giant plate of burnt dry deep fried pork covered with runny onions. The Guac was good,,,,,,, all else well…… Vile!
