This place seems a bit corporate and feels like a chain restaurant, but if you have to eat and Togard you could probably do worse than here. They have a great List and my meal was actually pretty darn good. There is not one dude waiting tables here but only very tanned girls with very short skirts.
Birthday dinner dissapointment. I thought the name sounded intriguing, my inlaws wanted to go to tgifs, or red robins ( my least favorite restaurants of all time) so I suggest it. We go in. I look over the menu, suprised they offer more then I thought they would. I finally put in a order for a steak salad of sorts, it took over an hour to get back to me and it was well well well done, i asked for rare. I ended up not saying anything and contined to eat a soggy and bare lettuce, and some limp burnt asparagus. I left there hungry and dissapointed, the good side is I didnt have to eat Red Robins.
Because I’ve loved all there food so far I decided to try to the Brussels sprouts for the first time in my life. They are definitely edible and if you like them get them. But I still far prefer there asparagus as its steamed then slightly grilled on the open flame making it amazing. Since I’m discussing side dishes there potatoes are worth it, you’ll never regret it. Also the salads are better when they are actual salad not the tiny side cup they give, for me an avid salad eater the side salad instead of fries is just to small. I recommend trying just about everything however I was actually disappointed with the pizza. I couldn’t find a flavor I fully enjoyed but felt some pizzas just had to much stuff and took away from it or we’re a little to greasy. Still edible but one thing broke my heart! They took away the cheese fries, I’m currently trying to beg to get them back so if you miss them send the company a message asking for them.30 Mar, 2013Outstanding food, the management is super nice but avoid during sports games. The sound was so loud I felt like I was at the movies. Also handicap parking is a long walk from the door so drop them off first.
Kind of mixed…. This is my second time visiting Portland on business and my first time at the Thirsty Lion. I met a friend of mine here for dinner mid-week on a Tuesday night.Service was slow. I didn’t time things since I was having a good time visiting with my friend but started to wonder occasionally when the server would be back. If had been by myself, the waits would have been too long.I had the corned beef and cabbage. Meat was very tender and very tasty. I had zero complaints about the meal. As a matter of fact I’d have it again should I have the occasion to eat there.
Do NOT go if someone in your party has food allergies. We have been there numerous times and many times they cooked the food wrong. The last time made us never go back. Our daughter is allergic to gluten, eggs, dairy, and nuts. Many times they put on cheese or a bun. The last time we sent the food back since there was a bun on the burger and it showed back up in less than 3 min. You could see crumbs of bread so the kitchen just took off the bread instead of recooking the burger. When my husband, who is a chef talked to the manager, she was not very helpful except saying sorry and bought her kids meal. So we all waited to eat until her meal showed which our food was now cold. The kitchen obviously does not understand allergies and the expediter did not check it as well and allowed the same burger to go back out. Being a parent of a child with food allergies is definitely scary and we will never go there again and will tell others about our experience.
Happy Hour And Dinner. Yes, it is very noisy, but it is a place that serves really good cocktails! The food for happy hour is less then yummy! When they first opened they had great Calif. Rolls, but now these rolls are made way in advance, with very little filling! It was the one thing thing I loved on their happy Hour menu! But the chicken strips are real good. The rest is just OK.. Their burgers and dinner salads are good, but we have not found a whole lot of great dinner food here. VERY NICE WAIT STAFF!!
Possibly our favorite place to go without the kids. -try the scotch eggs, they sound funny but are delicious. -we have been here many, many times the food is always delicious. We have tried several of the dishes and all were good. -tip to save money, happy hour menu, soda counts as a drink, although the prices are reasonablefor what you get. -avoid the wait for a table, make a reservation and get seated right away.
