Dinner Review. Went there with a group of 4 for Cinco De Mayo this year While the service was good, they seemed more interested in bringing us more beer than bringing our food orders to us. When we FINALLY got our food, it was cold and we had to ask more than once to get the tortillas that were to have come with our meals. The refried beans were not good at all, seemed like they came out of a can and had cheese sprinkled over the top, not even warmed up to melt the cheese. The Chili Relleno had the smallest chili ever in it,,not tasty at all. We were all very disappointed and will not recommend Celia’s to anyone. People who sat down after we did were served before us, which made it seem like our food was just sitting up there waiting to be picked up, thus the reason it was COLD—
Food was not very good. I had a chicken and a beef enchilada with rice and beans. I’m a big fan of refried beans but these were not good. Neither was the salsa or enchiladas. I liked the setting – sitting upstairs in their outdoor covered area. Nice. And I liked my server. He was great. But I would not eat here again.
Some good things. Dinner Review:My wife and I were pretty excited to try this place out. I used to live in Phoenix and have a big appreciation for Mexican food however we were both disappointed when we ate here. The chips and salsa where very good and had a mild-medium spice level. The staff was nice and our server was polite. The only negative thing about the building itself was the air temperature was cold and the windows don’t seal very well. My wife ordered the El Diablo chicken dish which was one of the house specials and we were shocked when we took the first bite and it tasted exactly like a spiced up cocktail sauce. Yes, I said cocktail sauce because that’s exactly what this dish tasted like (I should have asked the server to confirm if the sauce really was a cocktail sauce). I still chuckle at the thought of a restaurant serving a doctored cocktail sauce as one of their house specials for $13 or $14. My dish was a chicken plate on the Special menu (don’t remember name) and had shredded carrots, white cheese, and some zucchini mixed in. This dish was pretty good but also gave me the impression the sauce may have come from a canned product. The refried beans also seemed canned and cheap. Overall the flavors of the dishes were okay, lacking spice/heat, and some of the food seemed canned or pre-made. I wouldn’t say it was terrible but it didn’t meet my expectations of what a local restaurant would serve on the special menu.
Pretty good. I just moved to the area a few months ago heard alot about this place so i decided to give it a try. I ordered the fajitas which were very good. they also have some great drink specials.
Both the service and the food are consistently excellent. You can’t go wrong with Celia’s!
Favorite restaurant!!. The salsa is AMAZING, the service is super friendly, and everything on the huge menu is outstanding! great upstairs seating, just one of the best places to dine on fantastic food!
