To echo a lot of other posts….where’s the seasoning? Chicken needed salt and peppa, ceaser dressing had no desearnable taste of anchovy or garlic. Service was good though.
I don’t understand the love affair here. Maybe it’s because we did the Mother’s Day buffet brunch thing, which was the worst robbery of money I’ve ever paid. You have got to me kidding me with $110 for breakfast for three people. I doubt I’ll bother to try this place again, what a ripoff.16 May, 2012Had Mother’s Day brunch here for our first visit ever. It will be our last. $36.00 PER PERSON for a buffet with powdered eggs? I’ve never felt so ripped off in my life. Old pastries, very small omelets, sorta-fresh fruit. Next year I’ll spend $20 on ingredients and cook my mother an amazing spread and save the other $75 that our ticket totaled. Awful.
Very high wine markup. Their markup on wine is ridiculous! 14 Hands Cab sells for about $10 at Fred Meyers 2 blocks away but Haydens charged us $46 for the same bottle on 2-2-13. That is a 450% markup over retail and they purchase it wholesale. We see the same wine offered by similar quality restaurants in the area for about $27 – $34 a bottle. You wont discover this until you have the menu at the restaurant as none of their prices are on their website. Others do list both meal and wine prices. I dont know if they charge a corkage fee but bringing your own wine may be a good idea. We have dined there a number of times over the years and will probably go back but only for the patio in the Summer. The food is reasonable if somewhat over priced. Their 2 starter salads are large and costly and I would recommend that you split them. We have found the service to be generally good, courteous and attentive but not hovering.
Dinner at Hayden’s Lakefront Grill. Spend your dinner money elsewhere. Ordered an item that should have had no gluten (Celiac disease requirement). Server understood the requirement and indicated she would make sure that the cook would prepare in a clean pan to not be contaminated. Long story short pasta noodles were found in the risotto after eating some. The server response was glib about a noodle must have just gotten into the dish. What is the impact of eating gluten with Celiac disease: balance impacted, fogging thinking, aching joints and a painful gut for at least 24 hours. My observation about Hayden Grill; there is a significant disconnect between the servers and the kitchen.
As simple as this…. After our third visit I can state with absolute certainty that the prices far exceed anything close to what would be appropriate for the consistently mediocre food. I was going to compare the food to a Red Robin and realized I would be doing RR a great disservice. You have been advised!
I usually only go when they have the alaskan razor clams. That is the their one dish where I can’t get better and cheaper somewhere else.
Had the Chicken Saltimbocca, was very good, good coffee, good service
