Unlike my previous experience eating Sushi while staying in Tualatin, I found this local establishment to offer a decent plate of food at a reasonable cost. Although a bit small in terms of seating space, that quaint type of accommodation is what I’ve come to enjoy while munching down on a roll or two. Being shoulder to shoulder at the bar gave it a slightly traditional feeling and being greeted upon entry by the chef and staff added to the effect. It also seemed to be popular with the locals, considering it was almost at capacity during the mid afternoon. Unfortunately, because of that it did seem to take a while to get service and the check after finishing up. They also don’t accept American Express, which was a minor inconvenience.Though as I mentioned before, I found the food to be decent both in terms of price and quality. Although a little heavy on the sauces and creams, my soft shell crab was freshly made and tasted well-balanced on the palate. The same could be said about what was essentially a California roll facing upwards with a slice of salmon on top (again heavy on the sauce). The sashimi was particularity pleasant, being light on rice and with a thin quality cut of fish. It was refreshing to see the chefs actually take their time while preparing each roll, which seems to be an art lost among many sushi restaurants these days.Although a little loud and on the busy side, you get a pretty tasty bang for your buck and a somewhat authentic atmosphere while eating. And while its not at the top of the game for Japanese, you could do a lot worse then Sushi Train.
As the name suggests conveyor belt sushi. Lots of rolls and only a little bit of pure sushi. Lots of different types of rolls. For our taste a bit too much use of the orange sauce. Rice was decent, good flavor and consistent across the rolls. Nice place if you are in the area I wouldn’t make a special trip.
