First time I ate at an Elmer’s it was for breakfast at the Gresham location, and I was pleasantly excited about their version of an Americana menu. They had not one, but THREE of my slightly unconventional but favorite breakfast dishes: Avocado Benedict, old world German Pancakes served right with powdered sugar and wedges of lemon (or whatever your fancy), AND Lingonberry Crepes! Clean tables and restrooms – check. Immediate and efficient service – check. And a comfortable diner buzz to the place. Marked down a brick each for not having a better roast of coffee (even the staff acknowledged this), my personal peeve of our server interrupting each time she checked on us (eye contact will do), and they got my expectations up, so I put them on the hook for unreconsituted OJ.

Breakfast bad again. I must be a sucker for punishment. I went to Elmers in Gresham for breakfast again. It was the worst ever. What has happened to this Elmers. They used to be the standard by which I judged omelette. Today was the worst I have ever had. Seriously my dog wouldn’t eat it. I don’ t think I will ever go back. Elmers has been a fixture in Gresham as long as I can remember. I think their days are numbered.02 Nov, 2014Breakfast. Lived in Gresham since 1974 and have eaten many time at Elmer’s in Gresham. Have noticed a down turn in quality and service since they lost the manager that left several months ago. The last visit was very unpleasant, and it will be awhile before I go back. The waitress acted like I was on the prowl and she was a flirtatious bar maid. Elmer’s is supposed to be a family and families should not be treated like that. I don’t feel like the present manager is on the floor enough to control the staff. The old manager was always visible and appeared to be in control.
