Tried the chile rellano and shreadded beef enchilada. They were okay. Nothing spectacular. I can think of other places I prefer each at. I don’t think I would go back on my own but if somebody else wanted to go I wouldn’t be opposed to trying other entrees.
Good food. This is order at the window and then pickup your order type of place. We had chile relleano, carnitas taco, and carnitas tamale. I’ve never had my relleano served in a bowl with a broth. Turns out I like it. Tacos were the small tortilla with lots of meat and cilantro. Good. Tamales had a good taste but the ratio of filling to massa was too much to the massa for me. Overall a real good meal. Wish they were on the west side.
La Bonita es Muy Bueno!. The burrito is a meal in itself and the pork tamale and lengua taco was delicious. The rice and beans are very good as well. The food is inexpensive and delicious. Since you order at the window and serve yourself, you can hava a gourmet Mexican meal on the cheap.
Won’t be going back.
I’d never been in La Bonita until my Alberta st standby, -which also happens to be directly next door- La Sirenita’s customer service last night forced me to explore other options ie La Bonita. Upon entering I was impressed, immediately it presented a friendly atmosphere, the decor was adorable and it was clean (a nice plus for taquerias in north.) The customer service was great, but that is about where the positives end. I was with a group ordering separately, two friends ordered chips and guac, one got it a full ten minutes before the other. I ordered chicken tacos and they came out comparably to the second ordered of chips (far too late for a slow shop -la sirenita serves up tacos in minutes.) In addition I was not impressed by my tacos. We left with no hard feelings, but I definitely will not be coming back to La Bonita given the other options of great Mexican food in Portland (quick shout out to King Burrito! Great extremely cheap mexican food on Lombard)
What a great find! The chimichanga was incredible!
All I can say is holy crap! In a good way.
