Black Bear Coffee and Pub, Vernonia Oregon. The Black Bear is my favorite place to go in Vernonia. The Owner and staff are super friendly and the food is terrific. They have such a nice selection of Specialty Coffee Drinks and the Pub has a huge selection of Beer, and they will make you a very tasty drink.I love to go in and sit with my computer, hook into the free internet and enjoy the people that come through, the warmth of the cafe is soooo cozy, you really don’t want to leave. So much to look at. It is decorated with so much history and nastalgia. It is the best place to go for food, beverages, and excellent staff. They always make sure you are happy with the service. I have spent quite allot of time there, it is so cozy, and have seen the Owner go out of his way to provide his customers with a very pleasant experience. You do not see that in the big city. This is down-home hospitality. I highly reccommend the Black Bear!!!!
Good Food and Nice Atmosphere. This place has some very good breakfast and lunch menu items. I prefer the Toasted Turkey Melt and my son likes their Hotboys. My wife loves their coffee. Not burnt tasting like a Starbucks. People are very friendly. Their service is a little slow but only because of the small staff they have. You can’t be in Vernonia and be in a hurry, you’ll only frustrate yourself.
Still yuck. Thought I would give the Black Bear another try so I went there yesterday for an espresso. I ordered a very basic mocha. Unfortunately I waited until I got home to try it, because it was awful! I would have taken it back but didn’t want to have to drive all the way back into town. When I pay $4.00 for a coffee I expect it to taste good. I am done with this place. Go anywhere else but here!17 Aug, 2010Yuck!. Went here last Friday. The food was awful! I could have made much better breakfast myself at home. The hash browns were the square patty kind you can buy in the freezer section and pop into the toaster, the eggs were runny and came from a carton, the only good thing was the toast. Thats not saying much for a six dollar breakfast. Their sandwiches are no better. Stay away, there is much better food elsewhere in Vernonia!
We love black bear and go there everytime we are in town. Their coffee is very good and we always try to make it for breakfast; their breakfast burritos are to die!!! Thank you black bear for being our go to place when in Vernonia 🙂

Please try again!. Alumni, I think you’re confused who you are replying to. I love Black Bear. Amanda, if what you’re saying is true I encourage you to talk to the owner of Black Bear. Not only will he apologize and make it right with you, he will want to make sure that the people involved get a lesson on great customer service. Black Bear strives for the best customer service, but people aren’t perfect and things do go wrong. Please give it another try. This is a fun place with good food and great people!13 Jan, 2011Excellent Place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This place is excellent! The atmosphere and the people are spectacular! They have a $3 daily special on their specialty mochas that can’t be beat in both value and flavor. Every time I’ve ordered food it has been fresh, hot and delicious. This is the place to visit if you’re in Vernonia!
Reply to Jerry S.. The eggs are not from a carton; they are fresh, whole eggs kept refrigerated and are cracked and cooked when ordered. It’s too bad you did not have a good morning because Black Bear is an exceptional place to stop in at for any meal. Chances are, you were either having a bad morning, or you happened to get a poorly prepared meal, which is rare. Better luck next time 🙂
