The reason for my low review is the lack of effort with the dish that we order. Not lack of effort in presentation but no effort in the recipe or cooking methods. What does everyone think of when they think of fajitas? The sizzle, the browning of the veggies, the flavor that the grilling adds to every thing. Oh yeah. Sure we went with the veggie option but come on! Standard beans and rice, which tasted a 3 out of 5, so good but not great or top notch. Great salsa, 4 out of 5 on that. However, What on God’s green Earth is with steam vegetables with little seasoning? There wasn’t even hardly any Mexican spicing to these things, plus steamed anything with Fajitas? Ok, maybe the tortillas but not the veggies. Is it too much bother to brown them in a cast iron skillet, even a George Foreman grill would work, throw on some nice Mexican spices, and done.Nope. It is the flavors of the grilling and the spice combination that most people cannot do at home. Refried beans – easy to make. Salsa, easy to make. Guacamole, easy to make. Hitting the awesome Mexican spice + grilled flavor that only a restaurant can do – difficult.Basically I paid $25 for what I could have done at home for $5, which I don’t mind if the flavor is a home run, but steamed vegetables for a grilled dish is just bush league lazy. It would take, literally, $0.10 worth of spices and two minutes in a hot grill pan to fix this. Even just a grill pan and no spices other than Salt and pepper would have worked better because you get that grilled smokey flavor. Steamed is lazy. The menu does claim sauteed but I doubt it less the pan is about 150 degrees too cool so they end up steam like or perhaps, braising in their own juices.
Excellent lunch. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Service was a little slow because there was only one waitress but she was doing the best she could. She had a wonderful attitude and did not let it stress her out. That made things pleasant.
