Was not what I expected. I told my boyfriend I wanted Chinese food because I had been craving it for weeks but he took me here instead. I like to try new stuff but I wasn’t in the mood to try something new because I was set on Chinese good from kwans. I have to say I had a bit of an attitude when I first came in because I was kinda upset I didn’t get my way. But then we were greeted right away and got to sit where ever we liked. I ordered the chicken shawerna/gyro with no pickles because I don’t like pickles and they were really fast at making it. It was nice and fresh and at our table In about 10 minutes after ordering.. Or maybe it was less. But omg it was Sooo good!! I ate mine in about 5 minutes and then ordered a Turkish coffee that I split with my boyfriend which was exactly what I needed. So good we ordered a lamb gyro to go. Yum!!
Mixed feelings – will give it another go. So the place is right near the Subway on State St. I really hate that area because all the parking is metered parking for some crazy reason and had to deal with that! Walking into the restaurant I was greeted immediately and was told to sit where I wanted. The young gentleman took our order immediately. I ordered a Turkish coffee and wanted a lamb schwarma gyro, but they were out. I was disappointed because mid eastern cuisine to me is just not the same without lamb. However, things happen so I order beef. The girlfriend gets their hummus plate. This is where I was not so pleased. First off we were the only two in the restaurant. It took 20 minutes to get the coffee and another 10 minutes to get the food. Not an epic wait, but longer than I typically want for a lunch place. However, once I got the food, my attitude changed some. My gyro was very good. I tried the girlfriend’s hummus and it was also very tasty. The coffee was pretty powerful, which I love. Who I assume was the owner/cook, came out and asked us how it was and I told him it was delicious. So food wise this place was pretty good. However, in my opinion, took to long for lunch to be served. The food was very good and the service friendly and I appreciate the owner/cook to come out and see if we enjoyed our meal. I want to return and see if I have a different experience or not next time.
Closed. Enjoyed eating here for a couple of years, they closed this Fall and while the food was a bit expensive it was tasty and the owners friendly though a bit slow in getting lunch put out if you were in a hurry.I understand they have another location that I have not found or been to yet.
Tried Al-Aqsa while we were visiting family in Salem. Glad we found this restaurant. Very good and authentic food!
Al-Aqsa Fine Middle Eastern Cuisine. First time at this restaurant. Food was great, bread fresh and hot. Will eat here again.
Awesome food! Excellent tabbouleh, very tasty dolmas. The lamb shawarma was very good as well. A meal worth eating and finished with excellent Arabic coffee.
