Ordered take out. Got home to find that the caesar salad – a salad that is mostly lettuce, mind you – was made with completely rotten, rusty romaine lettuce – not an exaggeration. This wasn’t a case where a few pieces of lettuce were bad; the entire salad was bad (you can’t see it well in the photo but can see enough to get the idea). I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager (Karen?) and explained the situation. She was appalled and said that was unacceptable and she’d speak to the kitchen staff. She offered, with no prompting on my part, to send a gift certificate (I was going to ask to have the price of the salad credited to my account). I offered to send photos of the salad, she said that wasn’t necessary. Well here it is a few weeks later, and all I’ve gotten is a big fat nothing. Being new to Salem this was our first time there, and it will be our last.
I did not realize it at the time, but we walked in right before closing. After ordering and receiving a glass of wine, I noticed them picking up and the place emptying out. This apparently did not seem to deter our waiter’s behavior at all. He was polite and did not hurry us. He still came and refilled out glasses. He did what a good waiter does, but still doing it while doing his end of night duties. For the life of me I cannot remember the names of what we ordered, but I can tell you it was pretty good. Nothing epic, but a good solid italian dish. All was cooked well and had strong flavors. We even got to try the white chocolate creme brulee because an anonymous person bought out desert! (Thank you!) It had a perfect glaze on top. White chocolate deserts tend to be overly sweet for my taste, but it was good and the girlfriend loved it!Overall I came in late and had a waiter that still treated us well and got great food to boot.
This is a cross between Michelangelo’s and Olive Garden. Only thing I would have changed was the olive bread for garlic bread.
Surprised so many problems. Table was easy to get, but waited about 10 minutes to meet server. It seemed that both the kitchen and wait staff were short one or two people each. Took longer than it should have to get served. Personal pizza was good and salads were OK. Medium steak came raw in parts and without a steak knife. Pasta in two of three dishes was so undercooked it still had crunch. Flavors were missing from all dishes and one pasta dish was served cold. Waters were not refilled and didn’t see waitress again until we asked for bill.
Went here for lunch with my boyfriend. We arrived just as happy hour started. It was sunny and we sat outside. Waitress was very friendly but not at all chatty. Calamari was excellent and so were the meatball sliders. I got the gnocchi with pork brisket and he got a seafood dish with bay scallops and shrimp. Portions were smallish for the price but appropriate for the quality. We were very happy and full when leaving. The waitress was very sweet as we got ready to leave. If you love Olive Garden, you may be disappointed here. Gamberetti is a much higher quality so it takes a while to get entrees and they don’t serve huge portions of pasta to draw you in. We got 2 apps, 2 entrees and 2 drinks for $45! Going back asap.
The food sucked. It took forever to come out and it was not worth the wait. I had the Pollo Gorgonzolla and my gf had the Gamberettis del casa. Hers tasted like it had been cooked in vinegar and mine tasted as though they waited for the spinach to ferment before using it. We both were only able to eat a couple bites before leaving. Worst Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to.
Not at all accommodating. I am attending a Birthday Party at Gamberetti’s, I called a couple of days in advance asking about substituting the main dish (Chicken Marsala) for a vegetarian dish. I was told two things: 1: I could just eat the side dish of spaghetti noodles and marinara sauce picking out the meatballs, or 2: once I arrive and they begin serving I could ask for some Chicken Marsala without chicken???? How would that even be possible, not to mention chicken broth etc. My next question was so I have to pay for something I can’t eat because you will not make a vegetarian dish? Answer NO you can eat noodles! $15.00 worth of noodles! Not going to happen and this isn’t a buffet. You would think for a party where they are obviously going to make money they could provide some kind of customer service for someone who called in advance and ask for something that is not that is not an off the wall request. Simply a vegetarian dish. Not at all impressed with Gamgeretti’s customer service!
