Long wait, overcooked protein. The Ram is notorious for slow service, but usually the food is worth waiting for. Not so on our most recent visit last Saturday. It was about 1pm when we arrived, dining room was not particularly busy. We ordered our appetizer, articoke spinach dip, about 10 minutes in, then our entrees about 5 minutes later. 15 minutes after that we received our appetizer, slightly overcooked. Another 10 or 15 went by and our server asked me if I wanted my fish battered or other for tacos, so clearly the order was not in yet. Another 15 and our entrees came out. My battered mahi mahi on tacos was cooked to a dry chewy stick, spouse’s sirloin was gray (ordered to pink, server insisted that ordering medium would look be pink) . He asked where his vegetables were, they arrived separately mintes later. By this time we’re about an hour in and still hungry. We complained to server then went through 2 more managers and declined the offer to fire some more plates, at this point we’re at an hour and 10 so we said we were cutting our losses and leaving. Meal was comped (all we had was appetizer and water). At no point were we offered an incentive to return to compensate us for our time (ie: gift certificate or coupon). So we’re done.
Mixed feelings. I enjoy the food and the micro beers. I especially loved the PBBJ burger I had (peanut butter, bacon, and jalapeno), so much I now make them at home. The downside, the service is not wonderful. I’ve gone twice now and one waitress was friendly, but non-existent and the other wasn’t friendly or around.
Good Food But Can’t Get Past The Bad Service. I’ve eaten here several times and the food has always been good. However, the parking is crummy, especially if it’s raining. Every time I’ve eaten here our order takes longer than what would seem reasonable. The last time, it took forever. Our server was awful. Seldom made eye contact. Made us repeat things over and over and at one point, we had to ask the hostess if she could go find her. The server acted like she would rather be some place else and she had all day to get there. We’re skipping this place from now on, we want to have a nice meal not deal with frustration.
Sports bar. I really like visiting the Ram. Everytime I go I enjoy the bar, T.V.’s and the burgers are great. I look forward to taking my family there when they visit from out of town. It’s a great sports bar with a great atmosphere.
Good Chain Beer. Always enjoy my visits here. The burgers are mostly excellent, though service can be spotty.I like the beers here, the brewer does a good job, a step above the usual chain brewery
Excellent Burger. In all the years I have lived in Salem we had never been to RAM. My mom had signed up for their Facebook page so got a free burger coupon. So we finally had an excuse to go try it out.I got the Faburge Burger which was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. It had egg, bacon, ham, cheese on it. It was so juicy and tasty. The bun was soft and wonderful as well. I got the fries as my side and they had seen me sort of seasoning on them that I couldn’t place since I had already taken a big bite out of my burger. It was wonderful. My mom got the All in One Club or something like that. She wasn’t as impressed with it as I was with my burger. She also got the in house made potato chips. A few of them appeared to have been yesterday’s batch because they were soft and chewy instead of crisp. I tried one and they were just a plain potato chip which was ok.We saw that on their specials menu they had something called a skillet cookie. We used to love these at B.J.’s but there isn’t one in Salem. So we had to try it. It was very good but smaller than what you get at B.J.’s.We came in around 11am before the lunch rush and for the time that we were there we both thought the service was below par. The lady was very nice but was not very attentive to our needs.Overall I would definitely come back again to try one of their other burgers.
The absolute WORST service I have EVER had ANYWHERE!!.. A party of 8 and 2 servers refused to serve food or anything because 2 people in the party ordered drinks from the bar while waiting for a table to open!.. I will NEVER return here again along with all of the other people in our group!!.. F#@% The Ram!!
