We have been wanting to try Tiga for awhile and finally went in for lunch. We tried the gyoza which was very good and loved the sweet chili sauce that came with it. A nice change from the usual. 3 plates of food that we all shared- Rough and ready roll was really good, California rolls were great. The Philly was ok, but just a personal preference of taste. The smoked salmon in it was excellent, just not crazy about the cream cheese. We also had the Moshi (ice cream dough balls) and it was very good also. The service was friendly and attentive. The decor was a little tired, but overall we enjoyed it and would go back.
I was off put when I walked in for lunch. Not a single other customer was in. The rating for Tiga was really good, so I ignored the solitude. Of course, I ordered from the lunch special men. Salmon roll, tuna roll and spicy tuna roll. I was kind of unimpressed. The rolls were cut sloppy, uneven and the nori was torn along the cut lines. Not very professional. To my surprise, the salmon and tuna rolls were the perfect temperature and the rice to protein ratio was spot on. I could’ve done without the spicy tuna. It was just a mixture spread in a roll. I hate that. I was still hungry, so I ordered the White Dragon, which consists of scallop with white tuna on top, and a bunch of pizazz. It was amazing! Beautifully constructed and the two proteins melted in my mouth. Top notch specialty roll. I guess the take home message, here, is go for the special rolls. That’s where Tiga shines. I might be back. Eugene and Portland have way better Sushi places, but more expensive. Kanpai!
Don’t go here. Their udon was awful, and they severed everyone 20min apart.
Nothing Exciting, Skip. This sushi bar is not even remotely in the same universe as their competitor Fuji Rice Time a block over. However the place is clean and friendly. They serve your basic conveyor belt sushi but the rolls are really big and stuffed with imitation crab, like way more than usual, which gives the rolls a nauseatingly sweet taste after a while. Almost all their stuff is imitation crab with a small amount of good fish on top. However, the prices are ridiculously cheap, you can leave stuffed for like seven bucks, and it’s hard to take the piss out of a place like this.
PLAIN HORRIBLE. I tried the food, and honestly wished i had checked their health scores. Big building, never no business. SEE
Good Sushi. I hadn’t heard much about this joint, but figured I’d give it a shot, craving sushi and all. I was pleased I did. A big thing I stress with sushi is the temperature of the fish. Nothing I hate more is having fish room temperature or REAL cold. A good restaurant will keep it within range. My nigiri was a good temperature and cut well. My girlfriend said she really enjoyed her rolls. Also the service was great. They kept my drink full and checked on us periodically.
My husband and I go to Tiga once a week. We love everything we’ve tried and the service is always great. Love the mochi ice cream after dinner 🙂
