  The unassuming exterior of this restaurant hides a gem inside. Upon opening the door I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. I was greeted by friendly staff while seated at the bar. I ordered spicy chicken and pork dumplings, both were amazing. Spicy chicken had a kick but not too spicy, try it with the spicy mayo.

  This location is located on the basement floor of the Reed Opera House across from the barber shop with the pool table that serves beer and whiskey to its clientele.Its a pretty good family ran food joint specializing in dumplings, but with other things like ramen on the menu. I had a warm welcome by the father who explained the menu to me. I asked about the ramen and declared he was not the chef but his wife was and she worked at their South Salem location. His daughters ran the front counter collection cash and orders. They were teenagers and not too interested in their jobs nor were they unprofessional, just teenagers.The girlfriend and I got the dumpling sampler basket. The dumplings are what you would expect on the outside from dumplings or potstickers. However, the insides of them ranged in various flavors you’d have to read from the menu and each were pretty good. I unfortunately did not track which was which so I could not tell you which was my favorite, but none I did not enjoy. All in all it was a pleasant experience and would likely return to try to return to try the ramen because I am a ramen fiend. He could not explain the ramen in detail because his wife makes it, but from what he describe it took a bit of a process to make it.

  I tried the vegetarian and the pork dumplings. Fun shapes and simple dipping sauces, and the dumplings themselves were tasty! Although, I did feel the dough was a bit thick on my pork dumplings. My husband got the spicy ramen and we were both full and happy. Good price and good food, but limited menu. Maybe another ramen selection would round it out. We will be back to try the lamb dumplings. Now, if only we could find a good hot soup dumpling! Salem is really growing and starting to have some tasty restaurants.Update: tried the new location for takeout. Ramen was fair, pork and teriyaki dumplings were delicious. Pot stickers were unique and crispy. We will be trying the Chinese style hotpot soon!!Update 2: Small little restaurant with good hot pot. I’ve had their ramen and I have to say it’s not my fave. They don’t have alcohol at the restaurant which is kind of a bummer. Those things being said, we had the single all you can eat hot pots tonight and they were delicious. Refills of broth, plates and plates of meat (i saw complaints of small portions so they must have also seen these and fixed that), fresh veggies, and quick service. The table next to us was not so lucky, they seemed to have issues with meat replenishment but that wasn’t our issue! We ate plenty and I even saw another table get a to go box so they must have seen that complaint as well. Will definitely be back!
