Had the chavindeca. It was fresh and flavorful! It didn’t have as much meat as I would have hoped but I found it filling. My horchata was good also, though with more cinnamon than I’ve usually had. Luis’s is as good and authentic a Mexican restaurant as you would expect in Woodburn.
Yay! Real mexican food!. Too many Mexican restaurants cater to white people! I’m white, but enjoy the authentic food! I don’t want a bunch of lettuce and cheddar cheese on my food. Instead some goat cheese and cabbage. This place delivers that. I had the topas and the girlfriend had the taco ceviche, both were tasty! The ceviche had a strong lime and fish taste, but not overpowering, it was about as close to perfect as one can get. The menu is quite extensive and I was overwhelmed with the options. My only regret is it is in Woodburn and I seldom visit that town. The only negatives I found was the service was not overly friendly. It wasn’t rude, but very business like. Also they were blasting their music, which made for difficult conversation. They did keep a nice clean establishment.Overall, their food was great and hope I can make it back soon. I’ve yet to discover a location in Salem which has good Mexican food. If any of you can recommend something I would appreciate it!
Chicken Chavindeca -Spicy Chicken Perfection. My theory about Luis’s is that their food is so fresh because it doesn’t stay around their kitchen for long. This place is popular, and it’s not hard to taste why. I have been to Luis’s at least 50 times, and I usually get the Chavindeca. Spicy chicken sauteed with onions in the red sauce, with cheese, sandwiched between two corn tortillas, topped with more cheese, SC, and shredded cabbage. A squeeze of lime and a little salsa verde and you have the perfect flavor combo. The fajita burrito is also muy excelente. No matter who I take with me to Luis’s, they always leave saying it was the best they’ve had. Add to this the fact that, because they don’t sell liquor and need to pay for a license, their prices are super reasonable. If you have not been, it’s worth a special trip.
Worth the drive from Portland. Every mile of it. Probably the best and most authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had in the state of Oregon. I tried the tamale combo, which consisted of three tamales, beans and rice all served up on a gigantic plate. The tamales were cooked just right–nice and moist with tender delicious chicken. The beans and rice were also on point with just the amount of seasonings and not overly dry. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a short little trip outside of the Portland area or if you happen to passing by on I-5. You will not be disappointed!
Best Mexican food in all of the PDX area! I have been here several times lead by reviews from enthusiastic fans raving about this little Taqueria in downtown Woodburn. My favorites here are the Shrimp Tostadas, Sopas with rice and beans. Fresh homemade tortillas are delicious! Finish with a thirst quenching rice milk. Next I want to try their Posole and Menudo. Awesomeness is served here!
Torta!. Today’s torta was brought to you by WOW and YUM! Piled high with tender as your mother’s heart lengua that was crisped up on the grill, fresh tomato, shredded cabbage drizzled with crema and their excellent house made red hot sauce! A side of made to order tortillas and an order of frijoles… perfection!12 Feb, 2012Ate lunch here for the 197th time today and was once again pleased to do so. Had the caldo daily special and a chili relleno. Excellent on both counts as per usual. I do wish they would up the cafeteria atmosphere a little. But… As long as the food continues to be this consistently good… I’ll return for lunch 198!
Fish tacos were real good but not on menu. I would go again!
