Good Oaxacan Food. This is a clean and pleasant place that was doing a good lunchtime business today. A glance at the menu tells you they specialize in Oaxacan food. They have tlayudas, a Oaxacan specialty that you don’t see on the menu elsewhere. We decided to try the chicken mole and the especialidad de la casa, quesadillas. They have quesadillas with squash blossoms and with huitlacoche, a kind of fungus that grows on corn that is a delicacy in Mexico. We got one of each. They are made with plate-sized fresh made corn tortillas. They were delicious. One might actually feed two people, especially if you order something else. Don’t be afraid to try huitacoche. The flavor blends in with the other flavors and isn’t weird at all. The mole was excellent — obviously made from scratch and served with plenty of handmade corn tortillas. You can get a beer here with your meal which is always appreciated. This is one of the best authentic Mexican places we have been to in Woodburn. Check it out.
