Today my wife and I drove to Amity to try blue raevens pie that I had heard so much about. We purchased a mini size blackberry for the reverend and the wife chose blueberry for a combined total of $12. The pie lived up to the hype, my friends! Plenty of berries and sugar crusted pie crust that was out of this world made this a worthwhile drive. I suggest you give ’em a taste.
I am a Willamette pie company purest. I visit their store at LEAST twice a month. But now I found Blue Raeven Farmstand and I can hardly eat Willamette pie. Blue Raeven pies have a crust like nothing in this world. I bake pies and I will not stop until I can replicate the crust of Blue Raeven Pies. It is the lightest most tender crust EVER! And the pie filling is FABULOUS! Not that sticky sweet goo from other makers. Really yummy fruit tasting filling. Hands Down the winner of any pie in Oregon (and beyond!). And just found out they sell their pies closer to me (not an 1 1/2 hr drive anymore!) they are selling pies at EZ Orchards 5504 Hazelgreen NE Salem. YAY!!!!

Navalis found another winner!. What a delightful little roadside eatery/bakery/produce/Fruit stand. Everything is attractively displayed, good and fresh looking. I inferred that most, if not all, of it was grown right there on the farm. They have outside tables, both covered and open to the sun.I ordered a Corned Beef & Swiss on Rye ($8.99) with Lettuce, extra Mustard, no Mayo and Tomato that I think may have been plucked from the vine just paces away.Jamie, the enthusiastic young lady at the counter was patient with my barrage of questions. Impressively, she had ready answers for all of them.The Sandwiches come with Tim’s Chips and a fresh made Cookie. I couldn’t resist the Chocolate Chocolate Chip. It was just like something Mom might have made!My Sandwich was loaded with ingredients. One cannot reasonably expect this sort of place to make their own Corned Beef, but this was very lean and flavorful. The Swiss Cheese was of good quality and the Lettuce was Romaine. The Extra Mustard was of a good Deli variety. The Sandwich was good and the Cookie closed the sale on what’s coming next……Now for the coup de grace! Jamie said: You really must try the Pies. I took this to mean; I really must try the Pies! I popped for a Blueberry Mini-Pie. She even monogrammed it for me. (Just kidding. See photo.) I love Pie. I don’t often order it in deference to my already prodigiously traditional physique. This one was off the charts! If you’ve sampled the goods at Willamette Valley Fruit Company, I’ll tell you that this one rivals theirs.If you’re driving down 99W, or if you make it a destination, as I did, YOU REALLY MUST TRY THE PIES!
