Great place, great beer selection!. Love the simple food items you’ve added, but the real winner here is the beer drinker who enjoys variety on tap. Fair prices, friendly staff; love everything about the place.
Flavor.. Its nice to have bbq place so close to home&the menu has a pretty good selection but there is just a couple things that truly need improved. All of the bbq items (brisket, pork, chicken) are very bland. Its not the lip smacking cant get enough of bbq sauce that one thinks of when ordering anything bbq.It has no zing at all, almost flavorless even though you see the sauce.I eat out alot(4to5 days a week) and if the bbq sauce can be zinged up, I do believe it could become THE place in pgh to get true bbq experience. The meat itself will&does need seasoned more also¬ just try to let the sauce do all the work. There are meat rubs&brines to achieve a sincerely tasty experience.I’ve had 5 things from the menu so far&everything is very bland.it seems as if no spices, salts or herbs are used in anything.Next is…when you order onions etc added to something, you get very minimal amounts&if already in an item, theres never enough.Pile those things high, really satisfy the customer. In the wrap with the cole slaw, there was like 5 tiny diced onion in it&the slaw was bland as was the meat due again to the bbq being too bland.I had a beef brisket chipotle wrap at Hophouse on noblestown ave&the bbq sauce in that is to die for&the brisket is rubbed with cajun rub b4 cooking.Though the brisket is not of good quality. The chef&owners should try it&maybe you’ll agree that your food is too bland. The mac&cheese was very disappointing also that is on your menu.Bland&just seemed like noodles with melted cheese on top.A delicious mac&cheese really isnt like creamy but more of a gritty creamy.Yours wasnt creamy which is good but it was bland&just melted slab of cheese on top.And lastly is, be more generous with the meat in all items including salads. This place could make headlines very fast if these things were improved.
A Lot More than 99 Bottles. Wow, so many beers. Beer lovers paradise. The bar was full so we picked a table. You look at the menu and then place your order at the bar.The service was friendly and fast. Our food came out quickly. The best are the crispy, battered and seasoned fries. The Brisket sandwich was OK. The brisket was tender with a house BBQ sauce on a toasted bun. Unfortunately, I was not a real fan of the BBQ Sauce. The sauce was a little off tasting with some fake smoke flavors. So go enjoy the beer and fries.
My wife and I eat here nearly weekly. Anytime friends or family come to visit, we take them to 99 Bottles. Anything from their smoker (wings, ribs, etc) is worth ordering. They have a creative flair for their available items, they typically have really fast and friendly service, and the beer selection is great. I always feel like I’m treating myself when I go, and I never feel guilty afterwards because of their great prices.
First timers last night- took a minute to figure out the system… Staff should assume confusion and assist. The outdoor seating would’ve been preferred but that is the defacto smokers lounge now, and my wife has asthma . Enough negatives- wings had a great smoky flavor which made me regret not getting the ribs. Will definitely try them next time. Chicken waffle sandwich was a hit. Chili Mac was bad- sorry guys . Chili with pasta with cheese on it isn’t chilli Mac; make Mac & cheese and put chilli in it. Beer selection awesome. Solid B.
Great Beer. Went here tonight with 9 other guys from my church. We had a great time. We sat outside and watched the Pens game. Great beer. Good food. The place is kind of a dump but the beer and food definitely make up for it. We will be back!
Liked it. I felt a bit awkward when we first walked in because you seat yourself and you have to order everything at the bar (no table service-but they do give you a number and bring the food to your table), but it was definitely worth it. Their hot sauces are actually hot, and the food is a bargain. The beers were surprisingly cheap–Dogfish 90 minute on tap was only $5, and Southern Tier 2x was $4.50. That’s kind of unheard of outside of happy hours. Good bbq too, and the people behind the bar were really nice. We’ll definitely be back.
