Homemade with Mucho Favors. Betsy’s is my place for desert with I have dinner in the area. Yes, the local restaurants have some good deserts but Betsy’s is priced right with some great flavors. Ordered a scoop of pistachio and was not disappointed. Actually the server gave me a little more than ordered. Tasty, rich and oh so good.
Great ice cream. No complaints on that whatsoever. You can tell it’s all homemade which we love. Few things they could do to improve in general…..get a few highchairs! Also, the interior is updated, but a bit bland. Would be cool to see a local artist do big ice cream cone murals on the far upper wall. An ice cream parlor should have some cheer!
GREAT Ice cream!. I’ve been a huge fan of Betsy’s since they opened! Now that they have their seasonal flavors back, it’s frankly hard to stay away. Egg nog ice cream!?! Delicious!
YUM!. My new favorite ice cream shop! Great service, locally owned, and FANTASTIC flavors. My favorite is Pittsburgh Pride. The owners are very friendly – I will definitely be back!
First impression was an unsightly space – floors littered, tables sticky, very warm inside for an 80+ degree day. Next was the obviously bored boy and girl working that afternoon. The food coloring in some flavors of ice cream was alarming! My cone was stale and staff said it was from a ‘fresh’ pack. Ice cream was melting so fast; it was starting to drip down the cone as it was handed over the counter. Staff said to hurry up and eat it! Won’t be back.
Good, homemade ice cream. Very flavorful! The lemongrass, lavender, and coffee Heath are a few personal favorites.
Betsys. I was really excited to try this place. Washington Road has been in need of an ice cream parlor for quite some time, and how can you go wrong with homemade ice cream? Apparently, you can. I was immediately worried when I saw that the banana ice cream was actually bright yellow and other flavors had suspiciously unnatural colors. I thought perhaps they just added some extra food dye, but still kept the flavoring all natural. I was wrong – they use concentrated syrups to flavor their base as opposed to fresh flavorings. The ice cream also melted very slowly and was not particularly rich, flavorful, or creamy. I am not sure why this would be since they are making it from scratch. Hopefully, they are still working out their recipes and will improve with time. I’m counting on you Betsy’s! We need a high quality non-chain homemade ice cream parlor in Mt. Lebanon!!!
