We’ve been meeting at DeBlasio’s after work for a few years… we’ve noticed that the quality of the food has gone downhill. But last nightwas unacceptable… We told our waitress that we wanted to send a drink to a friend at the bar. Our waitress said he received it and it was on our bill but he never recognized that we sent it. When leaving, we asked the bartender if she gave him the drink and she said she didn’t give it to him but she will the next time he is in… but they charged us, one said he received it and the other said she never gave it to him. If I hadn’t asked the bartender, I would never have known that he didn’t receive it and there was no mention of refunding the money for a drink not delivered! We said nothing but decided to never go back. The fact that we got two different answers and we paid for a drink we had no idea wasn’t delivered was the final straw … we decided to find another after-work place for food and cocktails.
Pretty Bad. The restaurant is fairly nice for an older Italian restaurant. But the service and food is very mediocre, not worth the price or the trip. Wont be back, and it was a slow Sunday, and weren’t treated very well…
The worst manicotti ever. Cold and sour. The owner belongs in jail.
Good Appetizers. My daughter and I went to DeBlasios for a quick lunch and were pleased with our shared appetizers. We ordered the cheese stuffed bread and the beans and greens with chicken. Both dishes were quite abundant for appetizers and ver tasty. The dough for the breadsticks was light and airy, not heavy as is so often the case, and FILLED with good gooey cheese and pepperoni. One order yields 2 very large rolls, enough for 4-6 people. The marinara sauce that accompamied them was delicious. The beans and greeens again filled the plate and was just as tasty. There was a large amount of chicken and the addition of banana peppers was very welcome and acutally could have used more hot peppers. It’s a nice place for lunch with very good service.
A Good, Not Great Experience. My wife and I dined at DeBlasio’s Friday, 7 June 2013 for the first time in years. Our prior experience was memorable for the wrong reason, cigarette smoke which streamed into the dining room from the bar. The latest visit was much better. We were early for a 7:00 p. m. reservation and were seated immediately in a nice booth by the courteous and professional hostess. I find the dining room to be spacious, comfortable, and attractive. I disagree with those who feel that it is badly in need in renovation. It need not change a thing on my account. The highlight of our meal was the service from young, efficient, friendly, warm, and gracious Alexis. She performed a quality check with every course, but was not hovering over us. No manager or host/hostess came to the table to inquire about the quality of our meal.My Samuel Adams seasonal brew and my wife’s merlot wine were both good and worth the prices ($4 and $5.95 respectively). The fresh Italian bread was good. It could have been better had it been served warm and with a container of soft butter rather than hard pats of commercial product in plastic containers that the diner must open. Our fried zucchini appetizer was outstanding and fairly priced at $7.50 for a healthy portion which left some to take home and enjoy. This dish is one of the best in the area, and that is saying something in this zucchini-crazed region. My wife had a mozzarella cheese and tomato salad which was small, but good.My linguine with meat sauce ($12.95) was an average portion. The pasta and sauce were tasty, but there was not much meat in the sauce and the pasta was significantly overcooked and soft, not something I would have expected at a restaurant which features Italian food. The carrot cake was delicious and a reasonable portion. Our check was $46 plus gratuity for two. While we enjoyed our evening, I believe that for the money, we are better off at wonderful Scoglio Greentree, just two or three miles away.
South Hills gal. I have eaten a few dinners at DeBlasio’s over the years, but my lunch experience recently was awful. Went there for lunch with my family, and my granddaughter ordered a simple individual pizza. After twenty minutes we were told that it did not cook correctly, and another one had to be prepared, so after forty minutes we got another one, which was barely edible. Other members of our group got sandwiches, which were basically all bread. The overpowering smell of cheeses (or whatever) in the restaurant was not pleasant, perhaps a lack of proper ventilation? Menu has not changed in years, nothing new and interesting here.
The service here was awful. We sat in the bar while waiting for a table. The bartender was completely rude to us. After being seated our waiter was also unfriendly. We waited a very long time for our food which was mediocre at best. There is NO way we will visit again.
