Love this place. Best hoagie around or I ever had or atleast one of them
Great Wood Fired Pizza. I am from CT and wood fired and coal oven pizzas are aplenty there. Now living in Youngstown I discovered this place on here and decided to go visit it before a Pirates game. The drive is up a mountain a little outside PGH and I actually drove passed it(it’s a dive). They have a couple tables outside and that’s about it so I ate in my car. I ordered the Pepperoni and about ten minutes later it was ready. It was a great little pizza and very reasonably priced, I want to say 7 bucks. I will be back there and can’t wait to have that slight char taste again!
Best pizza I have ever eaten outside of Naples Italy. If you don’t love this pizza you must not have taste buds. Fresh with fresh ingredients. I am in love!! I am also spoiled now.
Very good. Top notch pizza with a budget price. Hoagies are good also (on Breadworks buns, I think)Closed sun/mon. I usually call ahead (15-30 minutes, depending on time of week)Really quite good.
No low quality chain pizza here. Located towards the end of Frankstown Road, this small, unassuming building houses what is likely the best pizza in the area (honestly, there are too many to try). You can smell the wood burning and pizzas cooking as you drive by and it tastes as good as it smells. Ive had the pizza bianco multiple times and each time it has been quite good. Outside of some burned patches of crust or too dry arugula (both of which are bound to happen in a wood fired oven), I really havent found anything to complain about as the pizzas have the right amount of cheese and toppings and good ratio to the light and soft crust. At $7.50 for a 12 pizza youre getting good quality and easily enough for one person. Theyre quick with the orders, ranging from 15 minutes to 45 at peak times. They do have some deli meats and subs but honestly I cant pass up the pizza when I order. This place isnt your basic chain pizza shop looking to deliver a cheap product quickly and using special crusts/toppings to draw you in; they let their quality speak for them. The ingredients are fresh and although you have to pick it up yourself and pay with cash only, it is well worth those inconveniences (whatever severity you deem them to be) to get a far better tasting pizza.
Excellent pizza, good fresh ingredients, delicious dough. Beans and greens were decent, could have been more seasoned. Will definitely be back, great value for pizza done the way wood fired should be.
Best authentic pizza in Pittsburgh. Reading a review about this place doesn’t do it justice. You just have to go and taste what you have been missing if you haven’t tried it yet. This is definately in the running for the best pizza in the Burgh. There is not one thing I haven’t eaten from this place that wasn’t absolutely delicious and I believe I have had the entire menu (minus any wheat stuff, that’s not my thing). The pizza bianco, like many others have said, is simply delicious. Sometimes the wait is long because it is a small mom and pop shop. It’s worth the wait. Do you really want a pizza from a place that isn’t busy during dinner rush? I’ll drive 15 minutes and pass five other pizza shops for their food any day of the week. Keep up the excellent job Wood-Fired.
