I will never go to this place again…management could care less about its customers, all they want is your money…had a problem with my food, told the waiter, he offered to make another dish..which i said would be great..continued chatting with my friend, mgr ran after server and ran into kitchen,,mgr came out of kitchen running to my table,,,chewing some kind of food and telling me there was nothing wrong with it …it was ok–(all while he was chewing and talking to me, food from his mouth was coming out — will never ever go to this restaurant again….gave me bill it was for the full amt…i told him i would pay for my appetizer and nothing else……….food was bad,,,could have been sitting out to long..who knows………………expensive restaurant to treat customers the way i was treated…..i eat out several times a week…and have never ever been treated this way—-especially for my age-
Food is ok at best…. But the worst part of the jimmy WANs experience is the service… We made reservations and then were pushed to the back of the restaurant by the bar to wait for our table where they forgot about us… When we finally got our table it took forever to get our food…. People who were sitting down 15-20 min after us got served before us… When we were finished eating it took another 30 minutes to get our check… Horrible organization and awful customer service… Afraid we won’t be back
Jimmy is great, but since his retirement and never being present in the restaurant anymore, everything has gone downhill. Elderly manager is quite rude, staff is slow and clueless, takeout orders are CONSTANTLY screwed-up with items missing. Very disappointed to see this once-great establishment fall
Don’t understand any of the bad reviews. I am mystified by any of the bad reviews of this restaurant. I found this place by accident about 2 years ago. I have been here probably 30 times since then and have NEVER had a bad experience. The waitstaff has always been courteous and smiling. The food has always been superb!. I have never felt rushed or unimportant. They make the best hot and sour soup I have tasted in the city. We have tried many different dishes and have never had one that was wanting. The spiciness or sweetness has always been spot on. The decor is inviting and calm, down to the bamboo shoots on the table. I have brought friends here from all over the United States and all have thought the food was superb.Jimmy Wan’s is hands down my favorite restaurant in this City.
Gluten-free terrible. We went for lunch today. I must eat gluten-free (GF) food and they have a gluten-free menu. I got a lunch portion of Dragon and Phoenix. (Lunch size is not on GF menu.) The only GF appetizer was egg drop soup – not my favorite, but okay. The main course came and was so salty that I could hardly eat it. They dumped about 1/2 inch of GF soy sauce on it. That seemed to be the only seasoning except for a tiny bit of red pepper. The portion was large and food very fresh, but as I ate, the soy sauce kept making everything taste saltier and saltier. When I complained, the waitress was very apologetic. Someone came from the kitchen and said that this was because it was gluten free. I knew this was nonsense, since I had eaten this dish at their Cranberry location and that one was excellent. It is really frustrating to have restaurants justify making bad food because it is gluten free. Won’t be back!
While the food at Jimmy Wans was always pretty mediocre it was the service that my had my husband and I frequenting the establishment. I always found the bar staff to be friendly and knowledgable about the food and drinks. That was not the case when we went for dinner/drinks today. The bartender was down right rude to my husband when he noticed that there was pork in his food. It was on the menu, and his mistake, but her treatment of us completely shifted after he asked to order an additional item because he wasn’t thrilled with the dish he got — and I mean pay for another item, we expected nothing for free since, as she pointed out, it was his mistake. She then proceeded to roll her eyes and speak to the sushi chefs about us in another language. Her frustration with our order was clear and made sitting near the bar uncomfortable for both of us. We will more than likely not return.
Terrible Customer Service. The food is pretty good here that’s why we usually order from here. However, the customer service is lacking greatly. We always order over $100 and this last time we ordered, and it will be the LAST TIME, we looked at the menu online. Apparently, the prices are different. When I called to dispute, Jimmy, the owner, was not willing to give us the prices online. It’s not our fault the online menu hasn’t been changed for 6 months. (Which is the legnth of time since price change, according to Jimmy)
