Good food, WRETCHED service. We come here often for the food because it is so delicious but unfortunately after over a year of bad service after bad service, we have decided to only get mad mex take out. The restaurant just plain SUCKS. They’re slow, none of their servers are trained and never apologetic when taking away from your dining experience. We kept coming back hoping for more but after this past time I decided it was time to review this place for what it really is.
Great Birthday Meal – Even my Toddler Loved it. I rec’d a coupon for a free meal at a big burrito group restaurant. We chose Mad Mex bc we thought it would be best for our family to go there. I had the steak & shrimp fajita and guacomole, salsa and chips. It was the best fajita I ever had! My toddler’s meal was great too, cheese quesa, drink, side and dessert for only like $5 or so.My husband loved his wings. Their happy hour is amazing too! We will be going back soon. Staff and service is also excellent and great place for kids.
Poor service. Gonna keep it short and sweet. Sat down, waited 20 minutes for a waitress to come over to even take our drink menu, and then the waiting continued. it really doesn’t even matter how the did was, the wait staff is either very understaffed, or just suck.
Cutting quality to lower costs. We go here every 6 months or so. Quality is going down. Cut into my carnitas burrito and it was all rice. Emptied the burrito out to find the meat….about 1/4 cup of meat and 2 cups of rice (that didn’t even have much flavor). My husbands thai curry burrito was the same. Basically rice burritos with meat garnish.
My girlfriend and I have been trying new restaurants lately and we saw mad mex as our next stop. We decided to give it an average rating. First, The restaurant itself is set up poorly. There is no lobby/waiting area upon entering. This makes for an uncomfortable wait for your table. It was a busier night and we were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. It took more like 35 minutes. We both work in restaurants and have for the past 8-9 years. It’s understandable that on a busy night you will wait. In this case, you tell the customer a longer waiting period so that they are surprised when it takes shorter. Next to the service. Our waitress was very pleasant and talkative. She took a little longer than desired to get our drinks and take our order, but this was most likely caused by an understaffed front of the house. Let this be a lesson to you mad mex. staff yourself for a busy night every night! The food was decent. My girlfriend ordered a margarita, which she did not drink because it was absolutely not made properly. It tasted like a full pint glass of patron with a splash of sours. While this is great for the individual who wants to get drunk, it doesn’t serve as a good dinner drink. We decided that we might give it one more try, but we heard so many great things and were kind of disappointed. Maybe next time…
I go here only for happy hour from 4:30-6:30 for half off drafts and wings. Always has a good draft selection, wings are decent and the blue cheese is delcious. I walk out the door spending $15-$20 on 14 wings and a few beers. not too shabby!
Just had the worst lunch experience ever! Gorgeous sunny day and headed out on the patio. And sat in Jill’s section. We ordered, got our food and beer and Jill never came back! Never asked how things were, never asked if we wanted another drink, no offer on dessert. Twice we had to get up to get more napkins. We actually ended up sharing waters !!! When she did make eye contact with us after we had finished our lunches and waiting 15 minutes, she cleared our plates and we asked for our check. She never returned after 10 more minutes. We had to go inside to host stand to ask for our check. At that point the manager never asked us how things were with our lunch. What an embarrassment to the Big Burrito group! Guess we will head to leetsdale next time to Azul!
