This was our first visit to Molinari’s. We began by ordering cocktails. I ordered a cardinale and my wife a sweet manhattan. My drink was very good and my wife said her manhattan was the best she ever had. We ordered an appetizer to split — a formaggi board. It arrived with two small toasted baguettes, a delicious pear mostarda and three thinly sliced modest portions of cheese. The appetizer was enjoyable but there could have been just a bit more cheese. Then came the dinners. I ordered the porcini canestri which was served in a rather large soup bowl. Unfortunately the presentation in this large bowl showed a rather meager portion. My wife ordered a meatball pizza which was definitely the low point of the dinner. To begin, the circumference was burned and there was virtually no sauce on the pizza – in other words it was dry. She brought half home. Overall, this dining experience was definitely not worth $90. I doubt we will return.
I have been going to Molinari’s for some time now, and I cannot say enough good things about it. The bar program features a significant selection of regular and seasonal cocktails, as well as a unique array of wines by the bottle or glass, and beers of draft. For a unique cocktail you most definitely will not find elsewhere, try the Funghi Manhattan, made with porcini mushroom infused rye. The bar manager is a certified sommelier and can provide some excellent recommendations for parings. From what I have heard, there have been some recent changes in the kitchen, however, as far as I can tell, the food has remained consistently fresh and delicious. The servers are very well trained, and exceptionally attentive and amiable. The restaurant is gently lit, modern and comfortable. It is a great place to either stop for a couple of small plates and a drink at the bar, or for a full meal in the dining room. While the menu changes seasonably, one of the regular staples is the burrata cheese appetizer, which I highly recommend trying. All of the pastas are house made, and can come in half portions (which has proven to be the perfect size if you have had a number of appetizers to start). If you are in the mood for an excellent dining experience, do yourself a favor and make yourself a reservation at Molinari’s.

We ordered the fresh Burrata cheese as our appetizer and it was delicious. The baby greens were delicate and covered in a wonderful dressing with a hint of bacon, and our main courses were exceptional – sword fish – which was succulent & moist, and home made pasta with three kinds of meat – amazing flavor, but so rich the two of us could make only a dent in the dish. We enjoyed a bottle of Cabernet from Tuscana, and olive oil cake with mascarpone cheese offered us a surprising combination of flavors. My husband loved the three flavors of home made gelato – chocolate, hazelnut and chocolate chip.Our service was perfect – approachable, attentive, and thorough. We have been eating out nearly every night in Bethlehem and Allentown for three weeks and Molinari’s is our favorite place and meal.
