You can expect a wonderful meal at the Twisted Olive. I visited the restaurant on a Saturday for dinner around 5:30pm. The dinner rush hadn’t start yet but picked up during my meal. Greeted by a friendly host we were seated quickly and offered drinks right away. I started with the baby spinach salad. It was served fresh and I loved the roasted prosciutto topping. The crab bisque is the best in the area. I was able to order more to go. Total we ordered three entrees, the potato crusted scallops that were excellent. The scallops were prepared perfectly and the addition of the potato crust made this my favorite entree. The roasted marinated chicken and the Ahi tuna, both of these entrees were exceptional as well. The entrees were served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Dessert was a coconut cream, amaretto pie, I highly recommend it, the presentation was also exceptional. The atmosphere is casual bistro-style and perfect for a special occasion. During warmer weather there is outside seating available. There is also a very nice bar with house cocktails. Great new restaurant. Always excited to try a newly opened restaurant, I stopped in to the Twisted Olive for dinner with a friend. I was surprised to see that both the bar area and restaurant were quite full on a weeknight. The drink menu was quite extensive, offering a large variety of beers, wines (by the glass and bottle), and unique cocktails. I tried the cocktail special, which was nut infused bourbon Old Fashion, which was delicious. The menu was simple, yet appealing. It would have been nice if there were one or two vegetarian entree options beyond salads as this limited my friend, who is a vegetarian, to only a couple of appetizer choices. Thankfully the appetizers she ordered were outstanding. I sampled the Grilled Artichokes that she ordered, and they were amazing. Topped with a delicious smoked tomato vinaigrette, they had a great texture similar to that of a meaty fish — A far cry form the usual boring soggy artichoke hearts one has come to expect in most restaurants. I ordered the Crab Bisque, which was loaded with lump crab meat and had a nice balanced stock that wasn’t overly rich. As an entree I had the Skirt Steak, which was topped with a chimichurri sauce, and served over a bed of basmati rice. The steak was tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The dessert menu sounded promising as well, but we were both far too full to try something. The staff was was very well trained and attentive, and offered an exceptional level of service. Downtown Bethlehem is fortunate to have another excellent restaurant in its midst.
