The original organic farm fresh restaurant. Everything tastes like it came from the farm you can see out their window. Turnover is so fast that nothing sits and deteriorates. Make sure you come hungry.

Your basic run of the mill cafeteria food. Like something you would get at a hospital. If you are all about just stuffing your face with as much food as possible then this is your kind of place, but if you prefer a well cooked well thought out meal from staff who passionate about food this is not your place. For 20.00 per person you can find a great place to eat that serves food you will remember and want to come back again for. Do your self a favor and find another place in Lancaster to eat.

What’s that smell?. What is that awful smell behind the smorgasbord and the super market. It smells like human waste. We go to the store infrequently and first noticed in the parking lot behind the store in Fall of 2013. I figured it was a one time, rare problem and something went awry with their septic system. Was back there this spring and there it was again. Somebody said it must be manure from the nearby fields, but I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and that is not manure from farm animals. Not unless they are eating pasta, fries and hamburgers, etc. Sorry for the bad review. I like the market, but I can’t ignore that smell. Very unappetizing.

Arrive Hungry!. We were visiting the Lancaster area for the first time a couple of weeks ago and Shady Maple was recommended by friends. We were not disappointed! HUGE selection of food! Hot food was hot. Cold food was cold. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area for sure and have already recommended it to many!

Great Shady Maple. Shady Maple Smorgasbord is the greatest place that we have ever eaten at. We live in Chester County. In fact, one of the main reasons we migrated from Bucks to Chester County is the proximity to Shady Maple. Now it’s a hop, skip and a jump away! The food is top quality, so delicious. I have talked to people from out of state that make the trip once a month on bus tours. One family was from CT. Try it out. You should love the place!

Try to eat here twice a year when I’m in the area. Food usually good and abundant. Prices seem fair except maybe on seafood night I think they could have a few more seafood items like crab legs, crabs and gone deep fried oysters. On this trip the shrimp that are usually medium ins size were large a welcome treat.
